Mic mutes itself when 2142 is launched

If you are using the front sockets on your x-fi card, I had the same problem.
Apparently bf always changes your settings to use the rear sockets. Try muvixer from www.muvixer.com It's free and is only a small app. It forces an overide of whatever software is trying to change your mic settings to keep whichever socket you told it to keep. Worked a treat for me, I just have it start when windows starts.
I've recomended it at few times to people and it's always done the job. Maybe time for a sticky on this topic if an admin could do it.

I had this problem. For some reason when I launched the game, it was turning off the mic boost in the advanced properties of my mic settings. If i alt tabbed out of game and ticked the box back for it, it would work fine. I had to do this everytime i played so I just turned off the ingame VOIP.

Thanks for the reply but turning off VOIP is not an option. I play with a community where tactics and communication within the squad is vital.

Downloaded and installed the app. I set Sound Card to my Creative card and recording to Microphone and I set the timer to check every five seconds for a change. I launch 2142 and go into Audio settings the mic mutes itself in the volume panel. When I leave Audio settings it unmutes itself as I can can hear myself blowing into my mic. I join a server and again it's muted and Muvixer doesn't change it back.

VOIP is always set up and it works when I alt-tab out of game and unmute the mic in the volume panel in Windows. The problem is 2142 is what mutes the mic in windows. Everything works it's just this little hiccup I can find a fix for.

As said in the original post- I am running XP SP2. I do have Vista on a second partition which I get memory errors, crashes and a bunch of nonsense so I run the game in XP.
