I always liked the G3 in BF2, and as soon as I saw the Baur on the unlock list I was in love. I played and played to work my way up the unlock tree to get it, and then when I finally got it I realised it lacked the one thing that made the G3 so awesome in my eyes - single headshot kills. I was heartbroken, and in my anger I turned to the dark side and picked up a Voss. I quit playing for a while, and since I came back I've been trying to improve with the Baur.
Here's where the problem starts. I take the Herzog for close range, but everyone kills me before I get my second shot off. Sometimes I get a one-hit kill, but mostly they either survive or the shot doesnt register. I get outsniped by everything, and I'm not even talking about the guys who instinctively unleach a hail of AR rockets every time they see an enemy more than 30 meters away. I'm talking about me, crouched and single shotting a Voss on centre torso from about 75 meters away. He took me down in one burst. After that incident I tried leaving it in full auto and bursting/single shotting that way. It was a bit better, but I still found myself being outdone by enemies who slam the prone key and then spray me down with whatever gun they have to hand, as well as outgunned at range by everything short of an SMG.
What exactly am I doing wrong?

I agree the main thing to master is the recoil, i sometimes use single shot mode for the headshots

Also dont forget going prone isnt the same as proning in BF2, there is a delay from prone-crouching, so be wary of that too, i usually side-step or crouch. when in full auto fire mode try not to keep your finger on the mouse button to long as this will give you your "bad recoil" just try tapping the button and youll find your accuracy will improve but it takes a lot of practice my friend:salute: excellent fun learning though eh! lol:ar15:

Meanwhile, everything about the Voss screams lack of skills. High rate of fire, high damage, high accuracy, high recoil, huge magazine.

This isn't about skill. I am not saying "Everyone who uses the Baur has skill and owns, everyone who uses the Voss has no skill and sucks". I am merely saying the Voss is an easy weapon. No one can argue against that. It is a proven fact.

And damage, it doesn't do that much damage per shot, but yes, all those put together give it the impression it does lots of damage.
