I registered on the forums and it worked just fine, but whenever i try to register on the main site, it just redirects me to the same membership info page every time
any ideas?

The forums and the main site are connected. So, if you've signed up on the forums you're signed up for the main site as well.
IE: You can comment on all of the main page news stories by clicking the headline or the word "Comments" and it'll take you to our forums here to post a comment. -
