Ones most likely full auto while the other is 3to round burst

yes its strange since the M16A3 would technically encompass the A4 but just have the ability to full auto as well, so guessing you will start with the A3 as USA

A4 as an unlock later on, or maybe even unlocked from the start, would have to have some sort of benefit to offset lacking full auto

I would have just liked the A4 to be the started but I understand why he wanted the starting weapons to be somewhat uniform

Maybe the A3 will be less accurate than the A4. If they made the gun handling correctly in this game then the A3 should naturally be less accurate just through firing automatically.

To be honest, I'm going to be playing this game with an M16A4, ACOG, foregrip, and heavy barrel - in single shot. So I'm not too worried about the auto and burst capabilities. I've never liked using full auto much except in CQB, and this is battlefield so not too likely I'll be forced to deal with that often.

Yeah, he'll just find another way to balance it. Maybe the A4 will be more accurate, have higher damage, something beneficial.

If it is an unlock though, that would mean that the Russians would be running around with a M16A4. Kinda goes against their faction specific weapons and then neutral unlock scheme.

Oh I totally forgot about faction specific weapons. Will that be an in-game feature or are they going to go COD-style on us?

It's like BF2, where starting weapons are faction specific and unlocks can be used by both sides. But most of the unlocks aren't strictly American or Russian guns, like the G36C so it didn't feel too strange in the alpha.
