Pretty much same... Im only using a core 2 duo and I have an ATI 5570, which you probably havent heard of because its an entry level card that is only made by MSI.
Yea well thats the same thing for me really. Hopefully im going to upgrade to an i7 core and 8Gb RAM (If that game can utilize that much). Then im either going to grab another 4870 to crossfire or look at one of the higher end cards just released. Not going to be cheap :/
I doubt it can utilize 8GB, they would have to make a 64 bit version for that. But you might want to consider 64 bit Windows if you don't already have it, since video memory also eats your limited address space.
2x4870 is probably fine, although you could be missing out on some DX11 effects.
Yea i have 64 bit windows. Without turning this into a "can my rig run it" thread, im simply choosing to grab another 4870 as it would be cheaper. What card would you recommend would be good enough to utilize the DX11 features?
I think you would need a pretty highend 6000 series card to rival the perfomance of 2 x 4870. I got a 6970 to replace my 2 x 4850.
But dont do anything rash, there might not be any noticeable difference between DX10 and DX11 in BF3.
I guess you need a quad core too with BF3. Damn I think I have to upgrade everything if I don't want to play in low settings (E8500, 3go ddr2 and 9800gt).
So is this "Phenom" you speak of better than the i7?
I7 are the king of the hill, but the top models are also outrageously expensive.
Last I checked Phenomen II had the best value for money, but the scales might have tipped again. I usually prefer AMD anyway because they dont change sockets every five weeks.
Also, Intel just recalled their "Sandy Bridge" due do a design fail that could kill SATA drives.
