It is diffcult to predict. To me it seems like games have had a very slow increase in CPU demand.
Not surprisingly since most are multiplatform or console-ports, so they have a very low baseline.

Also consider that it may be better over the long run to upgrade mid-range processors every couple of year than to buy a top-of-the-line now and be stuck with it for a decade.
If you want upgradeabillity then you need to consider how likely it is that you can get a new CPU for you socket in a few years. IMHO AMD wins there. But the best money can buy is I7

BF3 is still 32 bit but requires DX10 so you have to move up on the OS. Video cards that support DX10 are, what, 4 years old or so?
The games minimum requirements will probably be a 2 to 3 year old system. The more the better due to destruction and all that, but I dont see it going way up.
BC2 was more reliant on CPU than GPU i think. it's because thats how they need to make games for the console.
i really hope this time they make more use out of the GPU because GPU usage sucks and we have crappy AA in BC2.
