I just pre-ordered BC2 Vietnam from Steam and now I read that you can only play the Steam Vietnam version if you have the Steam version of BC2. That's what I get for not reading. Damn.
Well this sucks!!

Re: Well this sucks!!
Don't fret, try adding BFBC2 from your PC to Steam game list.
Add a non-steam game.
Try that. -

Email them and verify. Ask them if it will be OK. They should know. Im sure they had to test it with both steam and non-steam versions.

Re: Well this sucks!!
Another thing I forgot to add was that many of the "hard DVD" games are Steam interchangable.
I got Empire Total War that was bought from store. When I installed, it wasn't on my STEAM's game list. But then, I added to it.
Later I bought the mini expansions and they were compatible with my DVD version game.
Also I would note that the expansion files wer aLREAEDY in the game files, just like some parts of Vietnam.
Just letting ya know.Comment

I swear I saw posts on the official forums saying that it doesn't matter what version you have, since they are all compatible.Comment

AFAIK, Steam will let you cancel preorders as long as it is before release date.
Google returns this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1117862
So I would try that first.Comment

I took Crunches advice and emailed Steam support and asked them. I will cancel the pre-order if they say it is not compatible.Originally posted by VrekiAFAIK, Steam will let you cancel preorders as long as it is before release date.

Re: Well this sucks!!
This just in from Steam Support:
Thank you for contacting Steam Support. This expansion will not work with the non-Steam version of this game. We would be happy to assist you with returning this preordered title. We can either add the amount instantly to your Steam Wallet for future Steam purchases or refund the purchase back to the original payment method (may take 3-5 business days to process). Please let us know how you would like to proceed.

Re: Well this sucks!!
Man, that doesnt make sense. Why would they make it incompatible with each other? At least you found out now and not the 18th.
