Bad company 2 regular price on steam is now $29.99 US

A very good move on EA/Dice's part. Perhaps it's to help combat against the current FPS titan Call of duty (especially with black ops ramping up it's media and MW2 still selling well), but whatever the reason it's good to see flexibility in pricing. Bad company 2 especially has had a bunch of interesting sales for pre-ordering, and a few different ways right after release, big PAX discount, on top of the EA store already discounted for a while after release. A few people I know just went with a steam 4 pack, which often are the best deal, and easily sellable if it's multiplayer (wish there was 4 packs for single player games period). Heck at the computer store I work at, we had coupons for 10% off the game at the EA store when bought with ATI video cards.

I know most PC gamers make a big stink about paying $60 for most PC games, when the average a few years ago was $50 for PC and $60 for consoles. And while yes there isn't the same console maker fee with the PC, I'm happier to see it going this way instead. $60 up front for eraly returns to the investors, once the game development is paid for, and the game sale becomes largely profit, especially in digital distribution, then it's a better business move for all involved to lower that price. The gamer who likes the game and wants to recommend it to friends can now really sell it against Call of duty at double the price. The developer and the Publishers and investorys have a larger install base, for the next battlefield game, which many will be happy to pay the $60, while the rest wait 6 months for half price, or other discounts before. Also for DLC, the cheaper the main game, the larger base for people snatching that up.

Also keep in mind just over 10 years ago, the average PC game cost $80-100, so for me it's seemed like a discount for many years, and steam sales are like giving it away.

lol, that makes the price the same as the BF2 complete pack. IMO, 29.99 or 39.99 seems to be the right price point. Esp since L4D has about as much content and has always been priced in those ranges.

Newegg has the same deal, and you get a disk.

That's the standard retail price now. The Xbox version has dropped to $39.99. Console tax, and all.

Left 4 dead was always $50 to start, there were some pre-order deals, but standard starting price on the PC was $50, they just drop the price quicker, and offer all kinds of deals very soon on steam.

Then you might as well never buy a game at release, most games drop in price after 6 months, except the Call of Duty games made by infinity ward. I personally am happy to pay more for a good gaming experience off the bat, not for bragging rights, but to feel the game fresh, and they be able to recommend it to other people as well. I've also learned that for my self I'd rather pay $60 or more for a good game, then get a game for $40 or less and have it be a mediocre experience that I'll just toss away soon. A lot of the games I have I've played for years, BF2 being a excellent example, purchased day one, and until bad company 2 came along it was still getting played every now and then. In the last year I've purchased a few games that were cheaper but I either didn't play for that long, or found out were much crappier, something that I thought watching all the gameplay videos would have helpt me avoid. Killing floor, which was decent, but compared to Call of duty: zombie mode, and left 4 dead just wasn't cutting it for me. Operation flashpoint which I think was around $40, but I played I think less then a hour then uninstalled it.

Prefer to get the game right away w/ a dvd ... steam is lame.

Yeah... Like I said, $29.99 is the regular retail price in the US now. I almost bought the X360 version for $39.99 today just to see what all the fuss is about. Though for me, MW2 was fine on my friend's PS3 even though I hate it on PC. I have a feeling BFBC2 feels better on the PC. I played the first BFBC on my X360, and it's alright. Some things just didn't feel... right to me, though.

To tell you the truth [ED] I had a higher K/D ratio on the console versions than I currently do on the PC version.

Part of that might have to do with the overall skill level of players and how the controls work. I run into more clan members and "dedicated" players on the PC than I saw on the PS3. Also, even though I'm not very skilled with a controller compared to very good players, I still came in towards the top 1/3rd of every round. So I think aim might be secondary to movement and positioning. Even at the highest sensitivity, it still felt like BFBC and BFBC2 had slow aim speeds. Coming up behind someone, they had almost zero chance of recovering. Someone with a mouse can snap around and look right at you much more quickly than someone limited by thumb-wrestling a stick...

No big deal. I bought BC2 from www.gamekeyspro.com for $20 (Facebook promo code: FACEBOOKPROMO) Arrived automatically after PayPal payment. Very cheap and works perfect.
