Actually, that is one of my accounts. I've always had horse around accounts with every game and with BC2, I ended up playing with one way more than my primary account. So, my stats with my "RocketChild" account are limited. I actually just started playing with it not but a couple days ago:

        Ah, that makes more sense.
It is strange, but as far as I remember the only class-defining gadget that is available out of the box is the Grenade Launcher.
Ammo box, med kit, defib, repair tool and motion detectors all require you to level up, but you get the noob tube for free

Most of the people who care enough to spend time on these forums probably bought the game early enough to have gotten the "Limited Edition." So we all got those class gadgets by default.

Really? My memory tells me that I had to unlock that stuff, even though I had the LE. I got the Tracer, Thompson and Garand.
Or maybe I am thinking of the Beta?

If you have the LE, make a new soldier right now.
You'll see that you have all of the most basic kit unlocks.
You must be thinking about the beta.

I sat on the fence and did not get the LE. I really, really thought about getting in months early too, but I did not want to also have to drop a $1000 to update my computer for a game that was going to suck up my life.

I also had (still have) past issues with DiCE and how they support their game(s) and dealing with the fool me once, fool me twice thing. They are still treading thinly in my book, seeing how I still see hit register problems, long patch delays even with auto-update support built in and screwing with weapon balances, then not returning within a week to readjust through the auto-updater.

I just blow through the first few points of a kit so fast that I don't notice all the trivial awards for it though.

True, I am a bit worried for BF3. Same engine, same developers etc. On the other hand, they may have been able to iron out the bugs in the engine when BF3 is released.

Thing is, I don't feel like they stretch themselves with these console ports. They do what they can get in the game, because they know they really need to release an almost finished or burn people. So, they will leave out features that can be buggy. Now, with a strict PC game, where the sky is the limit, I'm afraid they will try too hard. DiCE is known for thinking big (at times) and they end up with a very heavy game that has little quirks about it.

I'm hoping that after several titles and a heck of a lot of experience and growing pains, BF3 will be something getting. I just hope it is not going to be so big that I need to drop another $700 into a computer that is already tipping $1400. With BF2, I had to buy a new computer, and go figure...it was so over powered, that there was really nothing out there that needed that much power except....well, one game.

I don't think I need a whole lot of eye-candy to make me happy...I just want frames. A few threads ago there was a discussion about a hack that turned off all the textures...well, sure...everyone back in the Quake3 days did that to boost performance in a performance based deathmatch style game.

Coming back to BF, I'm finding that yep, performance once again can impact if you are enjoying getting that first shot off or not. DiCE and EA better keep this progression of getting a tighter package release going. I hate to see them regress and we all find that we now need 12 GB of RAM because that is the sweet spot.

did you activate LE by putting in the code?
i know early on, some people couldn't get it working but for me it worked and i got all the basic unlocks before i played my first round online.

I got the LE weapons, so I must have activated it.

Same engine, for real? What is the point of buying it then?

New and different content of course. In the case of BF3 we are hoping for larger maps and more vehicles.
The latest MoH is using Frostbite too, but I hear that BF3 might be using Frostbite 2.0 (we are currently running 1.5).

Same engine doesn't mean same gameplay, I hope they add what they removed from the previous BF (prone, non-linear maps, bigger squads, commander etc etc) and add some good gaemplay points. My dream is between vanilla BF2 and PR mod, without the bugs and horrible netcode.
