true.. flares/smoke should be available regardless of the perks.

too bad smoke doesn't even work atm.

you dont come across many times where you know you're going to be flying one. Smoke should of came standard, I think it is ridiculous that it's a perk cause it's almost like saying "heres your tank, but first you'll need the steering wheel... should we install one for you?".

they're good for distraction TBH. while the enemy focuses on the BH, it gives other guys on the attacking side a chance to move up without every gun aiming at them.

Surely there are better ways of reaching the target area than taking the ostentatious approach with the Blackhawk and announcing your arrival to the entire enemy team?

Using it as a gunship yields far better results than using it as a taxi ever will, even with the revised tracer darts.

However under heavy fire of the enemy you aren't going to say, "embryonic jump", it is going to be abrupt.

yea i agree that blackhawks don't really fit in this game. not with these small maps. the guns are nothing to write home about and the tracer dart buff has made them death machines.

indeed, but it does happen, typically when I play with a friend of mine he does the CGing, otherwise sometimes you get the odd good gunner, its rare though lol

    Re: Black Hawk Down

In my opinion, the Blackhawk in Bad Company has little use as a transport. The maps are not as big as the ones in BF2 and it can only carry two passengers (not including gunners).

If it were real life, or ArmA 2, I'd advise not using it as an attack helicopter. Those gunners are there for self defense purposes, and in order to clear an LZ. They're especially useful when dropping off a load of fourteen soldiers. But really, in BC2, when the distance you must traverse from your base to the enemy M-COM stations is not that great, and you can only offload two soldiers, it is absolutely pointless. It's more of a "Shoot me" sign then anything else, such an ostentatious arrival.

It's only other use is as an attack helo. Would there be less people complaining if it were the AH-64 instead? Both my gunner and I can get just as many kills with that as with the UH-60.

That said, even as a dedicated UH-60 pilot, I don't feel that the tracer darts are too fast. Maybe my gunner is just too good, or maybe no one is bothering to take aim at my marked Blackhawk, but I don't seem to get shot down too often by the RPG-7 or the Carl Gustav. I either use terrain masking to shake off a rocket, or close the distance between my UH-60 and the centre of the area I'm orbiting. The latter prevents the supersonic RPG or Carl G. warhead from getting in Launch Acceptability Region in such a short space.

Well, you do like to talk a lot!
Maybe you should get a Macro keyboard?

M1: "e k Hi, this is your ex-pilot speaking. We were tracered so I think you should all bail out, since I am currently writing this from my parachute. Man that tracer is overpowered it was so much better in BF2!<enter> j Nice shot noob, how about using a weapon that requires some skill?<enter>"

the tracer dart should be slower anyway though
For a pub game? That's asking too much.

Well, in a typical battlefield insertion, the US provides air support. Hpwever, the miniguns are used when the black hawk is landing in a hot zone. While landing, the gunners fire at enemy positions and keep their heads down. Also, miniguns can be used to take out light infantry and vehicle targets. Black hawks are some of the best choppers in the world, and IRL, even an RPG hit won't destroy it. It'll spin and can easily survive a 45 kilometre impact. Also, its rotors are immune to HMG fire. It actually a great helicopter, though purely for transport. Want an attack version? The MH-60 Pave Hawk. BTW, this inspired me to write a black hawk guide in the RWF's I post. I love this chopper... :)
