Now i use mumble because of the awsomeness of the 3d surround voice (that is one of the most cool things wich i think most of the games should already include on it) , because it has better quality than teamspeak and it is similar to ventrilo and the fact that there is almost no lag at all and even if ur downloading your friend will be able to be hearing you at the exact same time your talking

With the right codecs TS can sound just as good if not better than Vent.

Got my first ever VOIP annoyance last night in BC2. All i heard was some guy munching on crisps and shouting at his dog. He then proceeded to say without knowing "I wish this game would ****ing end so i can wack one out"

      oh my...

TS3 has vastly improved the sound quality when compared to TS2. At least that is my experience.

Yeah TS3 is great. Very impressive.

I use a MIC, I dont know why I bother as the VoIP is yet one more buggy thing in this game.

Re: Does anyone use a Mic?

You know, I noticed last night that I think a lot of servers just have VOIP turned off. I was toggling my chat key over and over and I got no audio with my buddy. Maybe VOIP is not turned on by default on the server? That would not make since because I recall all the build up to BF2 coming out and it was a nice hot new feature having squads and VOIP inside the squad.

I guess it is really just this style of gameplay. There is a distinct difference in game play, at times, from classic BF2. I wonder if it because of a lack of a commander or the smaller squad sizes. But the teams do not move as well to react to problems.

It seemed in BF, you had 6 guys in a squad and if you had one squad that was real smart and talking, they could dominate the map...esp when they could talk to the commander and request UAV or spots in the area.

BC2 seems to have a lot of chickens with their heads cut off. Now that I think about it, it reminds me a lot of Quake Wars.

But, maybe it is going to take a lot of people from forums and communities to try and foster a sense of communication with other players in squads. Maybe that chat typing option that will be fixed in the next patch will help type messages. There is rarely any chance you have to type in this game to your squad.

I'm sure an F! load of people have mics out there, and just don't use them. Seems like 3 out of 4 people in Left for Dead have one. Every WoW player has one. They are more pervasive in gaming then this title seems to suggest.
