I play pretty aggressively, rushing in to take points, facing enemies head on, etc., so I tend to die a lot. But I've managed to get my KDR somewhat closer to 1.0 as I play more. The problem that I run into sometimes is I know about how many bursts it takes to kill someone, so I will stop shooting at them after pumping so many bullets into them and start shooting at someone else, only to be killed and see on the kill cam that they had 2% life left!

My best advice is:

"Play for the thrill and excitement, not for the numbers." Play to vent your frustrations, not add to it.

I use to be a hardcore player of Rainbow Six, my play style is conservative.

I tend to hide behind obstacles and sneak behind enemy lines. I shoot and displace often. I don't rush into battle or open fire immediately when I see an enemy.

The squad spawn makes sneaking up on an enemy difficult, I learned that often times the first guy to run pass me is not the last guy to run pass. So wait after a while before tempting to open fire.

It's amazing how magnum ammo only takes one less bullet to kill, yet it's so useful.

Well when I started no one was above rank 10 and everyone was pretty inexperienced. So starting any game late is going to make it hard for you.

Yeah, you would expect that when it first came out. It seems to be a far greater advantage.

Play on 24 player servers or lower and hit reg is better, there's less explosives spamming and more teamwork. Really.

Unlock in this order to rack kills:

Assault, Engineer, Medic, Recon.

Engineer for anti-vehicle and long range anti-infantry sniping capabilities, aka the M2 Gustav + Explosive Perk.

Assault for an94.

They are considered noob weapons, but hey, I play for fun and for thrills, if it gets the job done, it gets the job done. No questions asked :)

I don't play for numbers.

It depends how you play IMO.

I think Medic will net you the most points per game. You wont have the best KDR, but once you unlock the healing kit and defibs, you will top every round off of healing points, thats not including revives. For kills its Assault. Unlock the 40mm and you can get easy kills pretty quickly, then on top of that, unlimited ammo. Just get some play time in and learn the maps and you will eventually get better especially after getting some unlocks. Find what role you excel at and go with it.

Im not trying to sound "l33t" but i actually find this game to be very easy when played online, i felt like i picked it straight out of the box and already had a feel for everything which gave me the upper hand on the BF. This may have been partly due to the fact i participated a lot in the beta but otherwise i dont think its a hard game by any means.

No...

An-94? Carl Gustav? Those do NOT get the job done. They get you a few cheap kills that's all.

I'm really liking the AEK-971 now, with magnum bullets. The bursts are extremely accurate and I can get pretty sweet long range kills. The ROF is so high I usually win CQB battles.

XM8 + ACOG + magnum bullets is a beast too.

Sigh, no body likes pragmatic operations anymore.

We all had to go the elite way, maybe I'll run around with 93r pistol.

Cheap kills or not, they are kills, in the beginning, you will be murdered over and over because you are a stranger in the map. Plus there are others on the other team who resort to these "cheap kills" (I'm one of them :)). So to prevent you from exploding in frustration and anger, do yourself a favor, get a M2 and join the explosive fest.

However, there are tactics with the M2.

Hit and Run. Fire off and shot and start running, the smoke trail will let the enemy know where it was fired from.

Aim ahead of them, the radius has been reduced since the last patch.

Aim for walls and ceilings, splash damage hurt.

Don't commit suicide, there is a minimum range for these, don't fire these fun tubes point blank. That's just dumb.

I do, I use to have a 2.o k/d and in here I got somewhere with 1.
I agree I had to make a few adjustments in the beginning. I started bad but not to the point where it was 1-15, some of the previous BF series skills came in handy too.
I swear I still get newbie kills and death every once in awhile now though.

I surprisingly had a pretty good round just before with assault, it seems that it is the only kit that kills.
I mean Engineer is hard with their SMG, sniper is just tough. Medic isnt too bad.
