There's also a nature vs. nurture argument. Some people believe that even with good, decent parents, a person can become a monster.
I'm not sure where I sit with this. I've known people that were pretty crazy, and their parents seemed to really try. But I also think that it could just be a way to remove individual culpability. "It's not my fault, I was born this way." Or, "It's not my fault, my parents sucked."
At what point is it just that person's personal responsibility? I've been pretty pissed at people for various reasons, but I've never killed in anger. What makes those people different?
