    This is BS...

OK, so I have this really expensive laptop right? Which can play Crisis on almost all high settings right?

So why the **** can I not even play BC2 MP on 1024x700 with everything on LOW and 1x on AA and that other crap and everything OFF.

    WHAT. THE. ****.

At first I could take the lag and all, now it's just ridiculous........... I didn't spend all that money for my laptop to be able to play BC2 with graphics worse than ****in Doom.

    /end rant.

Oh, and please don't tell me to A) Run as admin. B) Update crap. C) Get new hardware and D) stop my bitchin' :)

How long has the game been out? Still no lag update?

If this belongs in the support section -idk and don't care if it does (more people read here anyways)- then move it....

    Re: This is BS...

Hmmmm, I have a lot of mixed feelings on this post. I want to rage and delete it because of all the threads I have to move every day because no on cares. At the same time I feel sorry for you for I want to help you. I am angry that you throw away everyones suggestions at your whim, nevermind that thousands of people are playing the game without those issues. I am disapointed that you automatically blame the game and it must be that over anything else (Though it probably is).

Have you played the game with your laptop on another internet connection? What is your internet connection? How are you connected to it? What is your system specs? Do you know how to create a DXDiag file? What OS are you running? What are all the settings that you changed? Are you using Steam? What other software is running while playing the game?

      Re: This is BS...

I appreciate your concern Crunch. And it's not that I'm throwing away people's suggestions, it's just that they are ALWAYS the same. It's always "Run as admin" "update drivers" "get new hardware" so I just said don't tell me that because it's not my updates or hardware because they're all up-to-date and my hardware is high end stuff.

I have played it on more than one connection. I've played it on my wireless internet at home, I've played it connected via cable to my router, and I've jacked a few of my neighbour's wireless connection (un-protected) and still the same result.

      Alienware M17.
      Vista 64-bit Ultimate.
      Intel Core 2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @2.53Ghz
      8186MB DDR3 RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 Crossfire-X (so 2 of them)
      DX10

So you now see why I'm so annoyed :p

Dunno how to create a DXDiag file.

The settings I've changed are pretty much where you pick, Low, Medium, High, Advanced, I then go Advanced and put everything on the lowest it can go. Hell, I've even turned off Wartapes to no luck

      I am not using Steam.

      Hope this helps.....

        That is a nice system

I know you are ranting. People say the same thing because it usually is those things. I know its weird, but true. I have been in IT for over 10 years now and I STILL have to tell people to reboot their machines and it fixes the problem.

Anyway, I am going to PM you my email address with instructions on making a DXDiag file. If you could do that for me and email it, I would appreciate it.

Also, as a side note, I think wireless gaming is bad. Too many things mess up wireless. I dont care about the 1000+ people that tell me otherwise. I work with wireless all the time and I know how it really is

What programs are running when you play?

          Heh thanks

True.. It was more a heads up :)

I'll do that within the next 5 mins.

Also, I've got my cable thingy plugged it as we speak and I just got off of a 16 man Rush server to see the difference and it was EVEN WORSE. I also cannot play 32 man servers due to it playing like MW2 would on a desktop out of 1999 and even 8 man servers can be a real *****... (just some side info :p )

I run Steam when I play - dunno why, should just close it anyways -, Kaspersky my ATI command center thingy and my Alieware command center thingy plus and I shut everything else down that I don't need...

          Thanks for the help :)

Have you tried forcing it to run DX9? That seems to help for a lot of people, although it makes the game unplayable for me.
And how does SP run? My experience is that SP performs even worse than MP, likely due to all the "special effects" that they are using all the time.

              How do I force DX9?

I played through the whole campaign on HIGH with the bottom two things on OFF and AA at 2x and AF at 4x (or the other way round, can't remember) and I lagged once at the part you're in a jeep shooting stuff and crap keeps blowing up in your face, but that's understandable.

Strange. But here are the instructions for running in DX9:

                Win7/Vista: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\Documents\BFBC2\settings.ini

DirectX Change - BC2 has the option to play in DX9, 10, or 11. This is great for those that have those lower end cards or want to get more FPS out of the system. BC2 can be manually changed in the "settings.ini" file. You want to change your string to something like this; "dxversion=9". Some have reported changing this from AUTO to the version they want has also improved how BC2 acts.

                  Re: This is BS...

You shouldnt need to set it to 9.

Anyway from what Ive seen with the DXdiag you sent:

1.Vista is with SP1, SP2 is out. You should consider updating your service pack.
2.Your video driver is 7.15, from 2008. Version 10.3 is out now. Yeah, 10.3
                  3. Your sound drivers are outdated. I cannot determine your exact audio, but its made by Realtek and your driver also dates to 2008. They released a few fixes since then.

Thats all I gathered from your DXDiag file. When was the last time you updated your wireless and chipset drivers? 2008?

If you dont want to update everything I recommend at least putting SP2 on and update your video drivers and go from there and see how the game runs. I would NOT edit any other settings in your game or make any other changes until those were done. You will just be adding variables in the process.

                        LOL, glad I could help.

Unless you gave me an old DXDiag file, it should be correct.

Also, if you are going to Windows Update to get the lateset, then you wont. Windows update is not entirely reliable to give you the latest drivers, especially for us gamers.

Same thing with going to any manufacturer website like Alienware or HP or even Dell. They will put the lateset out to a few months of release and then stop. I have found it to be better to actually go to ATI for video drivers, Intel for chipset drivers, Realtek for audio drivers and so on. Sometimes you are stuck with what the manufacturer has, but it doesnt hurt to double/triple check

After checking, let us know if you are up to date or if the DXDiag doesnt lie.

Just went to the Aliewanre support place to DL drivers, and I saw it's date : 12/11/2008. Hah.

I think I know what went wrong. Few months back I had to rollback my system completely to a comple months prior because my system got screwy, and it might be because of that.

But if it IS drivers and what not (I'm beginning to realise how much of an idiot I must sound further up the page ) then how come I can play SP on High and what not?

Well, I have theories, but nothing saying this is why.

My theories has to do with server data and everything going on having to be updated to everyone. Single player can be tweaked and tuned because its going to be pretty much the same and there is no data transfer.

Thats another thing I noticed is if you can play singleplayer well, most the time (Not all) multiplayer should work out OK.
