some recons can actually be good for a team regardless of attack or defend

the problem is most of them are braindead morons, from games like CoD, or the type of guys that would eco 5 rounds on a public css server to buy an awp and then die 2 seconds later

a good recon will either kill a ****load of people, and be shooting in the general area your team is attacking, he will throw pokeballs and do all that other mortar strike stuff

the best recon I have seen was a dude in my squad using the 4x on a GOL, I thought he would use the M95, but meh he got right in there with us and did an awesome job

while some wookies sat miles back not killing anyone, but yeh sniping is fun, attacking on Valpairoso I go for the lighthouse and snipe snipe snipe, easy kills

could recon be effective ? Hell yes it could. Grab a shotgun, and rush those m-coms , throw your sensor ball in, chuck c4 on that crate and blow it away ! (Same thing using a red-dot on a rifle, your using it as a close quarters weapon)

With a Sniper Rifle, kill the defenders on the MG and tow emplacements so your forces can move in, spot spot spot, Call in mortar strikes to soften up enemy defensese.

Does any of this happen ? Of course it doesn't .

Could it ? Yes

Is recon worthless as a class, well no.

The max snipers (as in recon using a sniper rifle) should be around 4 per side. any more than that and its redundant.

Recon has been given some great tools, the sensor ball is amazing in non hardcore mode, and especially on rush. C4 is insanely powerful.

Recon just needs to be used for the role in which it was intended.

On FF off servers, I kill everyone sniper I see on the attacking side (when on my team) and I also sniper cop them (Tracer Dart to the face)

Sometimes I will spawn in as engineer, and drop mines at their feet, ensuring a random grenade will kill them.

I hate snipers as much as anyone BUT if you ever did this on our server I would ban you in an instant without a warning. That kind of behavior is 'griefing' plain and simple. We don't suffer griefers/tkers/hackers lightly.

we all might hate snipers but they also exist as a free kill

allowing you to either stab them (boring)

or 40MM shotgun them to the face

the noise that makes is lovely

I'm not talking about banning snipers just the griefers who take out their frustrations on players who are snipers.

Btw, I have to kick people on a nightly basis to make room for our group members.

A recon can be used for different purposes but one of them are very effective, and that's a defensive one. If you use a GOOD spot so you have a good view over the front line it basically forces the other team to ALWAYS be on the move, cause as soon as anyone stops and tries to get in a good position to lay off some bursts he's gonna get his brains blown off, and those who are moving are the ones you are spotting so your team can take them down. A good recon is extremely helpful for your team.

HOWEVER, not when half the team are retarded recons, that's why everybody hates the class.

i am used to it. i like the arrow keys so i use right control for crouch. 1300 hours in BF2142 has turned my pinky into a steel trap :) I wonder if people having difficulty with this are coming straight from BF2 where crouch is an after thought.

Call me what you wish but just like the people who camped the hill on karkand, they deserve to be TK'd. How many times I've seen clan servers that had the no base raping rule but clan people wouldn't even leave the main base just throwing grenades out. They are idiots and I'll rape them just to get banned so I never make the mistake of going back.
