We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Only the default (TGN Light) theme for now. Dark them is also coming back soon. Then CSN. Then Wrestlin' Nation. A lot of WIP stuff right now. There are a couple of things still not working either. Sorry.
I dont like HC, but no skin of my nose if others prefer it.
But they really need to include it in the filters for "Play Now" and the server browser.
Yesterday some poor teammate got his head blown off because he made a sudden move, and I didn't realise I was on a HC server
Same here, I went on a server, spawn -> killed, spawn -> killed, spawn -> killed, then I realised it was a HC server and the enemy was standing in our base, so I quit.
I hope a filter will be included in the next patch, because I just hate this gamemode
not a fan of hardcore either. Pretty much turns into a campfest cause its so easy to die. Nothing like some guy spamming a pistol that hits you in the pinky finger resulting in your death
Thats the thing... thats not how it works. I mean there should be tweaks (pistols esp.) but I think thats how the damage should have been. Makes for a faster smoother game.
Makes for a camping, spray and pray game. Try the console version a bit; that damage model is the perfect blend of bullets needed/still fair.
Even with the FOV tweaks, you don't get a good peripheral vision. Try pubbing it up Kyle; HC servers are usually full to the brim with medic and snipers; a single grenade can ruin your inching about, there is no kill cam, so you can't tell if they are camping legit or exploiting something. I played some squad deathmatch the first time; you can pretty much aim for head, spray, and still get a kill; the damage is too much.
Look at my M60 stats, all those kills are from HC mode. The M60 IS overpowered in hardcore.
Hardcore is bad - mostly related to removing a lot of things that promote teamwork and makes people run off on their own because kills are so easy and you don't know where the hell your squad is at anyway. :p
I like lower bullet damage because it allows for more aggressive play styles (where as you need to be very cautious all the time in HC) and more dynamic fire fights. I wouldn't say no to a small buff for all weapons to make clutch situations more common but the vanilla damage is fine.

yup, I remember when there were people on the steam forum saying there should be higher bullet damage, like 2-3 bullets to kill but then that ruins a lot of things
I think about all the times I have played this game and how stupid and crap the gameplay would have become if it was so easy to kill, lower bullet damage isn't a bad thing if you can aim and know what you are doing, higher bullet damage just makes it easier for the noobs and promotes people camping next to a building corner somewhere waiting for you to run out into the open
Im all for a hardcore mode - if DICE actually bothered to make one that just strips the game of needed features for the sake of doing it. I dont want to play a 'realistic' version Of BC2, there are games that do realism a whole lot better. HUD options should be there for default play, i.e I can change in my settings what HUDs I want on or off (I like minimal hud) not just be forced not to have one in the hope that it makes it more realistic.
Played a few hours yesterday and loved it. I was getting spawn camped more in regular (and nothing like a Thompson when you spawn to clear anyone running around with a combat knife). Vehicles still have huds, don't know what you guys were complaining about (maybe just in the two servers I was in). 24 man servers seem to be playing way better then the 32 man.

I thought it was 2-3 bullets for HC?
And thats crap - when you have to shoot half a magazine into someone at mid-range in order to make them go down, it screws with the gameplay. You just get this awkward spray fest with grenades flying everywhere and a lot of impossible situations. Ever watch two squads hitting each other in CQB from the above death cam? It looks stupid as hell.
Chris, you've played CS - if you had good aim, and knew the game well it was possible to get out of 1v5 1v4 situations. However, if your aim was crap and your game knowledge wasn't up to par, then you probably weren't going to come out alive.
In BC2 I get into a lot of impossible situations where you've used all your bullets on one or two guys, used all your grenades and without any time to reload I can do nothing but die - its frustrating. Even the "oh well aim at the head noob" doesn't work because people will die faster - but it still takes too long IMO. Because no matter who you are you aren't going to get 100% headshots.
I'll stand by what I said about the console versions having the perfect damage model.

Didn't read that - thats what I'm talking about lol.
hell yer that was the case in CS (although I've played that game for a decade now lol)
but CS, while also being a competitive game excelled in the area of individual skill
BC2, while giving you the guns still wants you to fight as a team, so 1v4 situations aren't so simple. There have been times where I have come out of 1v3 etc situations on top but only if I had everything loaded etc or attacking from behind, then again in CS the same was true but in games like CS and CSS headshotting was extremely powerful even with a low level USP or something
BC2 is a game imo where if you get attacked by superior numbers its normal for you to either only kill one guy or die yourself thats just the way it should be for this type of game imo
that said I do somethimes think headshot damage could do more but then a lot of guns naturally headshot because of recoil.
I always saw damage in battlefield as a hard issue though because you have to consider, higher player numbers, explosives etc, spotting, there are a lot of things to consider when you start shooting someone, most of the time you won't be the only guy and a lot of the time the guy probably won't be on full health.
I currently don't really have a problem with it, I just get annoyed by the bugs where people won't take damage, like when they get revived.
What Chris said; if damage was any higher; you could take on whole squads, and that would defeat the purpose of squadding up. I think the PC version has lower damage beause of igher player count, and ease of aiming with a mouse.
I like the damage on consoles better; but still, I don't think a guy should be able to take down 5 other guys with the same clip on his AR; you shouldn't be able to storm a position alone, instead relying on stealth as much as you can. Even medics with the "overpowered" M60 can't take on 3 guys with mediocre skills; numbers are more important that "skill" alone by design.
Tough I don't know what you consider medium range; I thought everything farther than 50 meters was long range. It wouldn't make sense in-game if you could drop people over 100 meters with ARs consistently with 3 shots, it'd make the recon class redundant.
I much prefer HC to Vanilla and not just because the guns have better stopping power. I like the fact that because one guy sees me it doesn't mean that everyone one on the map now sees an orange triangle above my head. I think the Q spotting is one of the most ridiculous features in the vanilla game. You can even see the bloody triangles through foliage, wtf? Talk about a noob feature.

uhm... did you know dust from explosions, smoke, smoke grenades and breaking line of sight reduce the timer on that marker almost inmediatly?

I can dig it.
Never really thought of it that way - but that makes sense.
I hate that people are invincible when spawning on squad members, that is my biggest pet peeve. I kill the original guy, his buddy spawns in and a lite him up, but the bullets do absolutely nothing, then he kills me without having taken any damage.

Thats total bs in my opinion.
In hardcore mode? In regular mode ive been spawn killed many times by spawning into a firefight with the squad I am with.
