I will ask again: WTH is the difference between "deviation" and "cone of fire"? As far as I can see they are indistinguishable?

    -Spread, Recoil and Kick
There are MANY variables related to a weapon's accuracy and inaccuracy.
To make it as simple as possible, a bigger number = worse accuracy, more recoil.

I've narrowed it down to the most essential ones:

The two in Spread are the minimum hip spread when standing still and moving.
The two in Recoil are spread added to the weapon with each shot from the hip and sighted.
The two in Kick are the weapon's sights jumping around with each shot.
"Amp" modifies "Kick" - multiple shots will cause "Amp" to increase which then makes "Kick" become more random.
From http://denkirson.xanga.com/722757523/bad-company-2/ ,where I also got this chart

All of these terms describe a mechanic where bullets basically dont go where the iron sights are pointed. I assume BC2 uses recoil based spread then?

a few of the LMGs you can hold M1 to win, luckily a lot of medics either don't know it or can't shoot for ****, probably both

I think it is to do with recoil, but then again thats just from using some of the in game weapons, no real idea lol

Originally neither the M16 nor the L85A1 could OHK to the head. In a later patch they bumped up the damage ever so slightly (by 2) to the L85 to allow it to OHK with a HS. With SF, the G36E couldn't OHK either (and still can't which obviously doesn't hinder its effectiveness). Now the only ARs that can't OHK to the head are the M16 and G36E.

I can almost never hold LMB to get a kill, at least not with the fudging PKM. Not only does its accuracy go to hell, but the muzzle flash completely blinds me so if my target has moved since then I'd never know it until he put some SMG rounds between my ears. Do LMGs ever get red dot sights? :p

Oh good, maybe I'll actually try them out again, then. Being able to see what I'm shooting at does have its advantages, I've noticed.

The only thing I have seen is damage against various parts of a Tank, fro http://www.german-fun-fighter.de/wbb...stID=54#post54

There are more pictures in that thread, but here is two.

I'm interested in the stats regarding splash damage / AT capability between the weapons. The descriptions mention bunker busting/AT capability but i'm wondering if i should take that with a grain of salt. I'm about to unlock the AT4 and i just want to know if i can knock down sniper perches better with that then i can with the gustav.

Yep, it's a recoil based spread while using iron sights. That's actually one of the first things I tested in the Beta.

Rumours has that it works like this: Tankbusting > RPG > AT4 > Carl Gustav > Infantry-splat
So the AT4 is a general purpose weapon.

You are 1000% wrong. As far as I'm concerned with the m16; if i press the mouse button 5 times and kill 1 person each time then I'm going to consider those to be one shot one kills.

                              Now on about deviation.

BF2 has a predetermined deviation. First shot is dead on which means the person who can accurately shoot the head first shot more often is going to do much better. The person who is a poor shot and just shooting at the person not even paying attention to headshots is going to get "lucky" very seldom. You don't just get lucky in bf2 and get headshots on fully automatic. To think that a lucky person has just as much chance of hitting someone in the head as a talented marksman is absurd. For the most part any distance where fully auto isn't the best choice then single shot should be used. If not then you are doing it wrong and not aiming for the head. My accuracy with assault weapons m16/ak101/ak47(don't use unlocks) is 33% with a 4.6kdr and I don't shoot people in the chest, the stomach or limbs.

BC2 has drastically changed the damage weapons do. You can shoot someone in the head 5 times with f2000 before you kill them and headshots do 2x the damage. BF2 was 3x and weapons were overall more powerful. Besides the few guns this post was originally about I think the damage/cone of fire is not enough/too much in this game.

Aren't COD weapons way stronger than BC2 or BF2? Shooting weapons where 3 shots kill no matter where you hit them.

Re: no longer need mini burst shots anymore?

Honestly CoD had this right in terms of recoil and the like (Except MW2 was a little strange, refer to any of my ramblings as being from CoD4). When you shot your weapon on automatic bullets went where the ironsights dictated they would - which is logical for obvious reasons. And like Redfield explained before, this meant that the people who were good shots, hit their shots, and the people who couldn't went and played hardcore.

Aside from my very last point, all that is a fact.

Now in most BF games after a few shots on automatic (when iron sights are up, or even red dot) everything goes to hell, and you cannot "control" your spraying by pulling the mouse down (also akin to compensating for recoil in real life), instead the bullets simply start going in random directions that are NOT where the gun is pointing - so they "deviate" and create a "random cone of fire" thats to simulate recoil. (there you go guys haha.)

What doesn't make sense to me is that they don't just up the kick on your ironsights and have the bullet go where the sights dictate it would, which would be logical, and less random.

I really think it would get rid of the small amount of clumsiness the infantry combat has right now, it just doesn't feel 100% right to me.

EDIT: And well, if we look at CS (although it doesn't have ironsights) and how recoil was treated in that game we notice that it just happened to be one of the most popular (if not MOST popular for the PC) FPS game, and the most competitively backed FPS in the world for the last ten years.
