Whenever someone uses the 40mm as a primary weapon, I just ask them if they're really sure that's what they want to do. If they keep it up, I punish their team with Carl Gustavs and other assorted explosives. I don't do this on my clan's server, since it tends to make people ragequit.

Moral of the story: Just because you CAN play a certain way does not mean you SHOULD.

I don't particularly mind making people rage quit. :weo:

People tend to go with what works the best for them. Youd be surprised how few purists are left who wont pick a method or tactic merely because they think its wrong (while still being able to do it). Others usually just cant and complain about it.

Then it gets patched.

Why am I not surprised?

People tend to go with what works the best for them. Youd be surprised how few purists are left who wont pick a method or tactic merely because they think its wrong (while still being able to do it). Others usually just cant and complain about it.

I'm sure there are some people who complain about how overpowered 40mms are who can't kill anyone with them. But who really can't kill anyone with tubes? It's a one-shot-kill. So instead of having to do a bunch of little bursts and actually aim, you click once and the other person is dead. Even if someone kills you, the grenade is still in the air and can net you the kill from beyond the grave.

I'll normally only use 40mms to clear out cover or kill people camping in buildings. Since I can't throw C4 in through the 2nd floor windows, I have to make do with tubes. They have their uses.

I'd just rather not turn on easy mode and use them all of the time, since that bores me and doesn't really seem in keeping with the spirit of fair play. I prefer to avoid sniping, too, since one-shot kills from obscene distances don't really seem fair.

That doesn't mean I can't switch to recon and pop someone in the face in order to stop them from hassling my squad. I just prefer using a class that is more suited for supporting my squad and keeping them alive.

Incidentally, I might get the most kills when I noob it up with a sniper rifle or a noob tube but I get the highest score and more wins for the team as a medic running around being Jesus or dropping ammo as assault, or fixing everyone's vehicles (including UAV, but it's hard to catch that little bugger :)).

i think the days of 40mm being overpowered are outnumbered.
these are BC2's model 1887 akimbos. they will get nerfed down.

i'm gonna keep spamming them until then.

There are various ways of effectively using the tube. You're always going to have people complaining about it. And those that say, "Using it as their primary weapon, cause they can't aim." It does take aim, you're shot has to land extremely close or right on top of them to kill em...

The #1 overpowered thing in this game is.....the medic's M60. DUN DUN DUN! Yes, it really is. It's like a sniper rifle. Perfect accuracy and damage is insane. I get dropped in milliseconds.

Fair play.

Its that dangerous territory where purists like to impose their methods on others. Not saying you do it, but some like to. The whole idea of "play like I do, so it would be a fair playing field for me" seems flawed. Quite simply, one does what he can to survive and kill the opposition before getting killed. If it means taking the cheap and easy way out, why not? Richer gameplay forces people to adapt.

does anyone else remember the M60/LAW overpowered kit when BF Vietnam was first released? that kit was just unstoppable. we all knew a nerf was coming but we used the hell out of that kit until then. i don't think any BF kit will ever be overpowered as that. when they did nerf it, the M60 was recoil city and it was almost useless.

Thats the problem when everyone starts chanting nerf, it becomes extreme the other direction. The thing that still irks me is the C4 in BF2. Before you could throw it just about anywhere. Then they shorten it to where its this little distance. Then finally you pretty much have to touch whatever you are trying to plant. I bet people still complain about how overpowered C4 is.
