You'd be surprised how effective that damn 40mm SG attachment is. Now that TRR has a couple of BC2 servers (because I wasn't getting owned hard enough in regular BC2 servers :lol: ) I played with treble318 yesterday and he was raping faces with that thing. I'd see him, I'd die, and I'd see it was another OHK with that damn 40mm shotty. On the other hand, I was entirely incapable of scoring a kill with the LMGs so I stayed medic but went Remington whoring with it and on more than one occasion would fail to drop someone in four damn shots with that thing, with buck, at ~5m. Next time I go assault I'm definitely going to give that underbarrel shotty a whirl.

Regarding the one in BF2142, do you mean the Clark or the underbarrel Herzog? Because the Herzog is a fantastic weapon, especially once you upgrade it to 4 shots. Far more useful to me than being another one of the million PK rocket spammers, especially since I used the Baur a lot and would run out of regular bullets if I had to face more than two people in a row.

I never said it was unneffective, just that you have to be REAL close when using the underbarrel shotgun for assault; at less than 10 meters it's a one shot kill; but it only has like 4 charges and it's a one shot+reload deal, you kill with it or die and you don't get the shotgun pins for using it; so if yo uare a shotgun lover you'd better go with pump action ones; the saiga is too cheap.
And I would kill to have the Clark in this game, that's a real shotgun, not too spammy, not really slow, great damage at decent ranges.

The herzog was ok but complicated to use, didn't make the KACHUNG noise the Clark did, so it felt more like a POOOOFFFF.

I would love the shotgun attachment to be 2 shots before reload as that would just make it more handy.

That would make more sense with a real underbarrel shotgun (like the masterkey), but it doesnt fit with a grenade launcher.

I think they should just increase the spread and the number of pellets, making it ideal for room cleaning.

For close range fighting two M79 rounds were developed during the Vietnam era. The first was a flechette or Bee Hive round which fired dozens of small darts at once. Later in the war this was replaced by the M576 buckshot round. Containing twenty-seven 00 buckshot, this round was devastating at close ranges. The pellets cast a cone of fire 98 feet (30 m) wide and 98 feet high and travel at 882 feet per second (269 mps). The round has no mechanical-type fuse. This round is olive drab with black markings.

A 30mx30m cone of pellets may be a bit too much, but I could see it having 2 or 3 times the number of pellets in the standard shotguns

okay, i unlocked the explosive damage + perk and went on noob tube spammage to see what it's all about.
you guys are RIGHT, this thing is insanely overpowered.
i don't even fire bullets anymore. i just plop down the ammo box, hide behind something and just lob grenade rounds into the areas of enemy activity and i am getting massive amounts of kills now.
even better is when i find other assault guys to camp with, we both plop down our ammo box and most of the time we have never ending supply of noob tube rounds that we spam. reminds me of the 2142's pk rockets which were so overpowered and spammable that people stopped using bullets when playing assault.
now i understand when people say it was a mistake to give assault the ammo box. :laugh:

I like shooting, so a rifle is my primary offensive weapon. I use the 40mm to clear second story rooms and for when there is a cluster of enemy rushing. It's quite fun! If you're being bothered by people using the weapon differently than you'd like you could always: 1. Rage Quit, 2. Deal With It or 3. (my favorite) Flank 'em and Shank 'em!

40MM doesn't seem to be used that much. Sure its annoying when some guy turns a corner and explodes you before you can get two bullets off but.. people seem to be too busy being medic/engineer/recon to really piss me off.

I got accused of only using the 40mm in a Squad Rush game today. It was funny because most of my kills that round weren't from it. lol

I would love to see an entire team just go 40mm with explosives perk one time to see how much the other team would rage. Don't use guns, because guns are for *******. Use the toob exclusively. The fly in the ointment would of course be armour, so I wouldn't recommend this on Atacama or Panama, but doing this for a round on Laguna Presa would be interesting. What's even funnier is that in order to type out verbal harassment to the other team you need to be alive, so someone has to seethe for ~10 seconds before they can even start spitting out the racial slurs.

LOL 40 mm grenades are what I use for creative renovations. I don't use it to kill that often, because err well...Let's say my parabola always falls short.

Whenever someone uses the 40mm as a primary weapon, I just ask them if they're really sure that's what they want to do. If they keep it up, I punish their team with Carl Gustavs and other assorted explosives. I don't do this on my clan's server, since it tends to make people ragequit.

Moral of the story: Just because you CAN play a certain way does not mean you SHOULD.
