In terms of gameplay BC2 is your standard linear FPS.
    I haven't played BC1. My PS3 fanboy friend says it's awesome.

I skimmed the surface of the review, but Ill definitely read it indepth a little later. My question is this- some people are comparing BFBC" hardcore mode to COD4 core mode. Is this comparison accurate?

I can't say, I'm avoiding hardcore like the plague until I am no longer satisfied with the vanilla game.

I didn't play CoD4 on hardcore either, so I can't compare even if I play BC2 hardcore. In the beta hardcore mode increased damage, removed most of the HUD and disabled 3D spotting.

No, no. I mean, BC2 hardcore = COD4 softcore (core). Some people claim that it takes about 3 hits on average to down a person in BC2, which is comparable to the vanilla COD4 gameplay. Id like some opinions on that and whether it enhances the gameplay or breaks it.

The single player campaign of BC2 is combination of COD4/5/6 and Crysis plus some twist from BC1. I kind of hoped that DICE brought back gold digging story line instead of this patriotism scene. They really need to contract a writer to come up with a story which Bad Company defy all orders in seek of their own fortune at expense of both friends and enemies, but end up complete all missions and saved the day for the US.

I finished the SP campaign early this evening. Bleh. Nothing to write home about and I will definitely not be back for another go round.

I find the vanilla MP game unplayable after playing Hardcore. BC2 HC is not like CoD4 HC in terms of one hit kill weapons. The snipers can kill you with one shot in HC but that is about it unless you get a headshot. I prefer too, having FF on as it makes for a bit more restraint when it comes to mortar strikes and wanton armored vehicle fire.

Re: First (honest) Impressions, SP and MP

I played a bit of HC mode tonight. I really enjoyed it. Weapons seemed balanced and whatnot. It's been ages since I played CoD4, HC or not, so it's really hard to compare at this point. The multiplayer really has exceeded my expectations at this point. So far I think it's probably every bit as enjoyable as BF2142 ever was for me, or at least very close there to.

You can really rape if you're using a tank on some maps and know what you're doing (I got about 15 kills in one life my first round this evening), but I wouldn't say that tanks are overpowered. I had little problem taking them out as an engie.

I haven't really noticed any serious bugs yet My soldier got stuck in a rock-corner-thing for like 2 seconds at different times and I've noticed some textures that are really messed up or weren't finished or whatnot.

My favorite thing so far though, is that I have not encountered a single instance of nade-spamming. From what I can tell of the few maps that I've played, it's virtually impossible to nade spam for any length of time without dying or losing all your cover and thus being forced to retreat.

lol never seen so many "at this point" in my life! Anyway, nice review and I totally agree.

Oh, and "I played a little bit of HC tonight" can totally be misconstrued. :P

All i said is i dont think this will make BF3 even with JUST 64 players added(ohno).Maybe add bigger maps, jets and navy and it will?IMO.

I know some would like to Linch me up here:cry:,but so what if i dont think the game is not my ideal BF ttitle.

I only said speak for yourself as not everyone has the same views, all views should "each to his/her own and respected?"

And I'm not putting you down, yes you have your standard for what a BF game should be, but seriously; you are missing on a great game for no good reason.
