I allow myself to quote two very interesting bits in my opinion; first:
Trigger: It is amazing what you can see the players do. UAV videos, kamikaze techniques, and other odd exploits. People would blow up their own crates with C4, or they would load a UAV. We have heard that first you are going to raise the health bars on the crates in rush mode, and we have also been hearing you are going to force players to plant. What are you guys going to do with that exploit specifically, so that people don’t keep using exploits like blowing up your crates?
Patrick: There are two angles to that. The first one is for the beta, yes, the value was too low. It was actually already corrected for the main game, but the thing is for the beta, we really needed to release it and finalize it a bit earlier. So we basically separated the beta from the main game so that we can be sure to work in parallel. So that was an unfortunate thing that is already fixed in the main game, and that is basically going to be the same amount of difficulty on the console. You should not be able to exploit it. On the other hand, I find that the thing where they blow up their own crates fascinating because it was a valid tactic. It is one specific base that they tend to blow up their own crate, and the time to blow up to make sure that the enemies are gone. They take the tanks and drive them to the base, reinforcing their own forces, and keeping the stolen tanks alive with repairs. I think that perfectly what Battlefield really is because that is using the elements and then it is up to the different factions to make sure they do not steal the vehicles. That is definitely a Battlefield moment itself, but we do need to make it harder so that it does not happen all the time.
AND:
Dreamgirl: I just wanted to know if you guys were going to add toggle crouch and strafing?
Patrick: This is a discussion we constantly have in the office. The whole misconception that we are removing stuff that worked perfectly, there are multiple reason why we are making changes to the game. The whole prone discussion is quite interesting, the whole thing is that is the wind has started to change for prone. People have started to see the benefit of not having prone in a game because it changes the pace of a game, I think. You can always argue that yes, it is better to have prone than not have prone. We, of course, are constantly monitoring the game to see if it works, to make sure in case we need to patch anything. We are not going to say what we are going to patch in the future, we are only talking about what we are going to do for the next patch. We will not make any changes until we see the game live, played with all game modes, all maps, on live servers. I am not trying to be an ******* by saying we won’t have prone, it is not that we won’t have prone. It is just that we, from our internal testing, that prone does not add to the gameplay. It changes the gameplay into something that is not beneficial to anyone. It is only beneficial for the person who is lying on a hill on the ground proning. It is better for everyone else.
Anders: The whole game is based on the fact that there is not prone, adding prone would be quite a huge design change. On the specific toggle crouch, I can’t say absolutely yes. We are looking into it, and we would like to have it patched in soon. But we just need to prioritize that with everything else we want to continue patching. That feedback from the beta for toggle crouch, we heard you and we are looking into it.
So I guess that finally settles it? There, from the developers.
