That's what I used before upgrading to two 5770's and I got an average of 40FPS. It's pretty good, but I'd suggest buying one 5770 for about the same performance and price, and DX11 for the future.

If some not-so-new GFX-Cards play this game with a reasonable framerate, and others don't, I would say that the game has not been optimized for the different cards or the drivers haven't yet.

I would agree with Vanilla, until we get the final product and see how optimized it is with the cards and new drivers we cant really judge.

Theres going to be a performance patch for the beta before it ends but dont really know when that will be launched.

When I first got the beta, I tried playing on high settings, and found myself getting a ****-ton of lag. So I tried medium. There was still lag, but it was bearable. Then, I tried low settings, and there was no lag - the game still looked pretty good. But I'd like to play on high settings. Currently I have an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS. I need suggestions for what graphics card I should get, if I want to play BF:BC2 on high (or advanced, for that matter) settings, without lag that makes the game unbearable?

As said above force DX9 under the settings.ini, adding another 1 or 2 gb ram might help a bit, but i think the 8600GTS is basically a 7600GT but a bit faster thus lower than the min requirements.

How do I force DX9? As it turns out, DX11 comes with my OS, Windows 7.

The games Graphics setting is stored in \Documents\BFBC2Beta\settings.ini, by directly modifying you can do some things that is not possible from the GUI.
The most important part is turning off Bloom (it is what makes you almost go snowblind), and forcing a lower DX version for performance gain, if your system is struggeling.

Should see; DxVersion=auto
change "auto" to 9 save, yes to overwrite and close it.

Thanks, I'll see if that works.

EDIT: If I put in "9," it doesn't seem to go completely fullscreen. If I put "10" it works. My card supports DirectX 10.

In your case "10" will have the same effect as "auto". DX9 doesnt work properly for me either, and I actually get better performance under DX10. But it was worth a try since many have reported increased performance under DX9

I changed it to 9, and found out that it goes full-screen if I alt-tab and then go back to it. I can now run the game on high settings.

I have a 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS and it runs sweetly on medium settings

Guys don't buy hardware for a BETA. I've explained this before. It's just silly.

I was thinking of up-grading, but as you say I will wait to see how the full game runs on my specs first

I could not wait to upgrade. Ended up swapping out my e6750 for a second hand q6600 (O/Ced to 3.3Ghz). Now I can play the game never dips below 30fps ave 45 fps, double what I had before!!!

I also installed an evaluation copy of windows 7 which seems to have ended my hitreg problems (before the patch),and given me an extra 5fps.

All I can say is your probably best off spending money on the best Quad Core you can afford.

No, you *. You're best off waiting for the final release of the game and see how your rig performs. If it's still underperforming, you may want to look into upgrading. But don"t ****ing upgrade your PC for a BETA, unless you were planning to upgrade anyway. But then again, it wouldn't be upgrading for a beta.
