When I first got the beta, I tried playing on high settings, and found myself getting a ****-ton of lag. So I tried medium. There was still lag, but it was bearable. Then, I tried low settings, and there was no lag - the game still looked pretty good. But I'd like to play on high settings. Currently I have an Nvidia GeForce 8600 GTS. I need suggestions for what graphics card I should get, if I want to play BF:BC2 on high (or advanced, for that matter) settings, without lag that makes the game unbearable?

This might need to go into the support section
We also need to see the rest of your hardware specs, to see if there are any potential bottlenecks. Please include power supply wattage and the +12v rails output.
I'm have a ATI 5850, and running it maxed with basically not major slow downs even in intense firefights.Comment

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU with 2.66 Ghz, 2 GB of RAM, and DirectX 11. My power supply is set to the Basic setting for Windows 7 - not sure how to check wattage. I have no idea what +12v rails is.Originally posted by sithdemonComment

you cant be using dx11 because your card doesnt support it. Befor eyou spend money make sure you are runnign the current drivers and make sure you have cleaned them out correctly.
remove driver
boot in safe mode
clean driver with driver sweeper pro(or what ever you want that supports removal)
reboot and install latest driver

hum.. this is depressing. I get pretty poor performance (20ish fps with all settings as low as they go at 1680x1050) but i just thought it was because my computer is nearly 3 years out of date.

judging from what you guys are saying, i should be getting better performance (playable (30-40) on med/low settings). Is there anything you guys would suggest i try (besides buying new stuff)? I oced my gfx card a tad and that helped a little, but i'm not in the mood to burn it out so i'm not gunna overdo that.
I may be wrong, but it seems to me that this game would benefit significantly with faster processors with more cores and physics cards. Many older games would be happy with enough ram and a nice graphics card, but with all the physics calculations in this one, I dont think thats enough.Comment

I'm using a Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4 GHz, 8GB DDR2, and an 8800GTS. Using advanced, I can set 1680x1050, mostly meduim (with some high), 1xAA, no HBAO and seem to get pretty good results. Sure, I get lag, but its more network lag than anything else. Only experienced a few slowdowns since I have been playing.Comment

My Buddy is running a e8400 not OC-ed with a 8800gt 40-50 FPS on med and plays fine. Install the driver correctly and do the nessary tweaks to get your perfomance up.Comment

I'm running a 8800GT and an e6300 (I think) OC'd to 2.8 ghz. I've been playing it on the stock settings without much of a problem. Occasionally it will freeze for a few seconds, but I haven't thought much of it.Comment

I'm using two Sapphire ATI 5770 1GB's in crossfire, a Phenom II 940 quad-core OCed to 3.4Ghz, 4GB of DDR2 800(5-5-5-15) memory and with everything set to high in advanced, 1x AA/AF and HBAO off, I get about 80FPS max, and an average of 60 FPS. Full AA/AF with HBAO enabled pits me down to 40 FPS average.
I'd suggest buying one 5770. They stay cool, they're cheap and they'd run this game on high settings with at LEAST 40FPS using the same settings.Comment

You can only use a physics card on the very few games that supports PhysX, and that seems to be a dead end. BC2 uses Havok.Originally posted by flippy199
