"Hundreds" are actually very few considering the number of people playing BF2. You can also find hundreds of people believing that they have been abducted by aliens (and most of them will be living in California). They are still nuts.

The way I see it, "dust" from your target means that the hits are being registered, but the hit is being overruled by the server. Very likely because of high latency for you or your target.

I haven't seen any convincing evidence for bad hitreg that can not be attributed to lag.

Dude,BF2 has a problem with hitreg. It's a fact. It's not latency ffs.In fact lower latencies make it worse in most cases.

Facts are something you can document. And if lower latency makes it worse, then it is obviously latency related.
I did a search on BF2 hitreg problems, and they seemed to focus on tuning the clientside prediction to match the lag.

To be clear, I am not saying that it is impossible for hitreg problems to exist, but I haven't seen evidence of anything that doesn't match what you would expect form latency-related issues.

I have documented it.By doing tests with me and my bro on an empty server. The hitreg is broken. Can you honestly play that game and say it's not?Are we talking about the same game?

Thats not really documentation. A video would be documentation.

To be sure we are talking about the same thing:
Hitreg failure: The game failing to detect that bullets passes through a target serverside. Symptoms would be inability to hit stationary targets with carefully aimed shots
Lag problems: The client being out of sync, so you are actually shooting at "ghosts". Symptoms are lack of the hit indicator, but visual signs of impact.

I have never seen the former, but encounter the latter on high ping servers. But it is not a noticeable problem with the 60-70 ms ping I usually get.

I've seen some videos on the subject.

That is a good video, is that what you are experiencing in BC2 too?
In that video he get dust but no hit indicator when shooting at a moving target, so the client is detecting the hits.
But there is clearly a problem with the synchronization between server and client.

And because of that the hits are not registering with the server. So there's bad communication between client and server, which is causing bad hitreg. That means hit detection is done clientside, and hit registration is done serverside, which is what is causing the dust and twitching and also things like tank rounds exploding and doing no damage (client detects a hit, server registers a miss) and tank rounds passing through a target and destroying them (the opposite).

So, who would be responsible for making sure that the server and client synchs up properly during gameplay? Surely it wouldn't be the developer who programmed it...

Whatever they did, though, they seemed to have it sorted out, at least for me, in BC2. BF2 and BF2142 had a lot of no-damage tank rounds and a lot of phantom damage rounds as well, but BC2 seems to kill what I aim at. A lot of the frustration is due to low damage on ARs, I think.

Thanks for posting that video Kylee.I have actually seen it before,I was just too lazy to post it.I guess the people that still play BF2 are the ones that never happens to.I don't know any of those people lol.Everyone I know has bad hitreg in Bf2.And no,this doesn't happen to me in bc2.At least not at the moment. And Wolf is also right about the low damage on ARs being frustrating.

Your intellect is dizzying and your bullsh!t is baffling.

"Because I said so" or "because a few people on an internet forum said so" is not a logical argument, nor is it a valid refutation of my logical argument. Like I said, I can't comment on BF2, so there may have been hitreg issues in that game. However, we are talking about BC2. If you can supply me with EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE that there is a hitreg issue (i.e. the game was poorly coded), then you have an argument you can stand on.

As it stands, the burden of proof is in your court, not mine. I don't have to prove my questions, but you have to prove your accusations. You can only supply me with your subjective opinion: anecdotal evidence which is entirely subjective and thus fallacious.

Oh,and that clarinet player in your video kinda sucks. He is just playing fast scales, with no interesting ideas,no rhythm and no feel.I know he is just a kid, though,so he will probably get better.

Who is the troll?I am making a legitimate claim about hitreg in dice games.I sort of backed off the hitreg issue on BC2,but they Improved hit detection in patch,so i think that my claims now are validated.Thank you and goodbye.
