Whenever you see newer players, what kit do they most often choose? When your team gets capped out in a round of Kubra Dam and the USMC is hunting down that last lone player who happens to be a low rank player (not that the ranking system means jack, but it at least is generally indicative of time spent playing), what kit is that player using? When you see this video:

and wonder why the attacking team has less than a zero percent chance of winning because half the team is oblivious to anything other than what's in their own scope, what class do you think those oblivious players are playing?

That's right...sniper. n00bs love sniper kits. Love them. Now, when you give one of these players a voice, the first suggestion he has on a forum is 'Make the sniper rifles a one-hit kill ffs!!!', without even the slightest clue as to how unbalanced this would be for the other three/four/six kits in the game that they annoyingly have to cycle through before selecting recon/sniper at the spawn screen. Now imagine if those n00bs got their wish and anything they clicked on with their sniper rifle died instantly.

THAT is what Evant3k is talking about. A mode where these things actually happen and you no longer have to aim for the head to get an OHK with the sniper, thereby requiring less skill to get that instant-kill and even further promoting the sniper class. People that already think the sniper class is the best thing since foosball tables will now have even more incentive to play the class, and now you'll have them able to take down players that are far more skilled than they are with just a single click.

I just played a few rounds and it is sniper/mortar spam heavy...

I honestly think they should put a hard cap on number of snipers per team based on number of players currently playing...honestly what army is made up of 50% (or more...) snipers?

Oh and nerf mortar cooldown, you can really spam the crap out of it...

Also, that mode is named "Hardcore". And that is hardcore!
I think an effective way to keep that kind of players away would be to label it "CareBear" instead.

honestly I think the name is misleading they should rename it camp-core and just be honest about it. :p
People think if they call it Hard Core it makes it harder.

played it once and the maps are too small, the spawn camping is too great! the mounted guns dont have ironsights.nade launcher with no iron sights ect... ect...

If the game was more open or slower i would like the idea but its a big fat FAIL from me!

            Camp core i agree!

the whole mode is just half-assed... like pre-alpha status.

                  Re: Hardcore mode available!

Hmm this isn't sounding too good really. I think maybe if they did a hardcore mode like Americas Army, anyone played a map called pipeline? That was a great map to play although the 1 life per round thing might be a bit too "hardcore" for some people. There was limited sniper slots on each team so sniping wouldn't be too much of a problem. Although they would need to make better smoke grenades to give the attacking team more cover when needed.

Either way it sounds like it needs a lot of work because from what you guys are saying it just sounds like they have upped the damage of the weapons (or lowered health), got rid of the HUD and thats it. For this mode to be successful and not a snipe fest you would need to create a specific game mode that takes all these things into consideration and balances them better.

Honestly I laughed at this. Go start up CoD4 and see just how many HC servers there are compared the regular ones that are just chock full of uber skilled players!

                    NOT.

Hardcore modes just make things easier for the people who aren't very good haha.

Although DICE hasn't said anything to this effect, remember that HC was never intended to be included in the beta to begin with and was basically hacked in by server providers, so it's quite possible that what's in the game now isn't what is intended to be in the final version.

If this is the final version, I'll be sticking to normal servers.

                        ITS a BETA

The game is going to have problems, and balancing issues. They realeased the beta so we can tell them about these issues. Sitting here crying about it or saying it sucks helps no one. Your either part of the soloution, or part of the problem. Remember, they gave you the beta so you could make the game better, not so you could complain how much it sucks.

Thats like looking at the empire state building when its half built saying it sucks, and doesnt have enough windows, and the vending machines arent filled. Its irelevant !

While this is all true, depending on the build they gave us, it will be unlikely anything major is changed outside of minor tweaks/balance issues/optimization.

They won't change hardcore mode before release, because they won't have the time to run sufficient bug testing to ensure it works as intended. (other than weapon statistics, maybe some GUI changes).

Also, nearly everyone has voiced specifically what they don't like about HC mode (mainly snipers). If DICE wishes to make the mode more attractive, they now know what pisses players off about the mode. If not one says anything, very little will be changed because DICE doesn't see an issue.

TL;DR: Beta versions are closer to release versions then you think. (again depending on the version, I hear this is a several month old version, only time will tell)

Apropos of nothing, that is what Flagship Studios said about the beta of Hellgate London...

At EA, beta versions are not close to final.

Beta simply means all assets are locked, like audio, textures, things like that. Everything else is up for, and can change.

Im a former EA QA Manager So I know what I'm talking about :)

I dont mind when that happens, if you keep moving you are not an easy target and with so many snipers it makes it a fairly easy round to win.
