I hope the steam preload begins early enough to play the game on release, I love bioware.

Yup looking forward to it. Checked out a couple of the early reviews on IGN and it looks like all of the technical bugs that plagued the first are gone . No more long elevator rides :)

I am thinking of getting it though i am unsure, I want a new game. MW2 and all my others are boring me.

Its good to hear that they have got rid of the stupid elevator rides as they bored the crap out of me too although it did give the citadel the feeling that it was actually huge.

What else have they changed gameplay wise to make it better?

I just hope the amazing conversations during the elevators are now in the normal gameplay.

"I was losing sleep over the prospect of people not loving the turians"

            "Just forget I said anything."
            .
            .
            .
            "Done."

Seems like the general shooting/combat is a lot quicker and much more fluid now.

Would prefer to get it on disc tbh, Steam version is about 12.7gb.

But I will have to get the ME1 1st.

Also, their damn "ammo that we aren't really going to say is ammo but 'heat sinks'" crap is such a HUGE step back from ME1.

As if I cared about the totally unclear inventory system, Mass Effect for me is about the story and the characters, that they combat gets more fast is just good as it was to slow and repetive in the first part.

So what are everyones opinions so far?

Personally i dont like the idea of having fuel and navigating seems harder than the first although more interactive.

                        ************SPOILER ALERT BELOW*************

I also dont like how the story started with shepard dieing and then getting "put back together"

                          Re: Mass Effect 2

The games combat mechanics are a HUGE step back from ME1, and even though the sidequests are all much more fun and indepth, theres fewer of them. I would have liked the return of a few characters, though, and Andersons much smaller role in the game isnt that great either. Ill post a minireview up.

All in all, final impressions- less fun combat, less tactics, less options, less RPG. More conventional shooter and more catering to the selflimiting console players. The overall story is kind of odd too, you spend 90% of the game doing just one thing, so its not as varying and expansive as ME1 was. However, the story itsself is a good continuation to the first game and feels like a strong sequel all around. GOTY 2010 no doubt.
