What the heck is the deal with the body temperature snow in this game! Makes thermal sights almost useless in snow levels, which is one of the places they should best suited for.

Yes i did wonder this too and im not sure if its a bug or not, i remember when i played with thermals on a snow map it was really difficult to tell between the snow and the enemy. As you said, kinda pointless considering thats where they should be at their best. -

yeah thats pretty stupid the devs wouldnt notice this kind of thing i mean snow is really cold and people are really warm and on a thermal scope snow is going to be TEH DARK-NESS and people should be teh shining beaconzComment

I find it annoying using them on snow levels. Seeing as humans are what about 33 degrees and snow I am guessing is around 5, they should stick out like a sore thumb on a glamour model. I always thought it was due to the light reflection, but unable to tell hot from cold on a thermal scope makes it pointless.Comment

Snow on thermal sights should be colored as black.
@RYKUU Its common knowledge that the average human body temperature is 36.6 and that water freezes at 0 C so I don't know where you got those numbers.Comment

Shouldn't snow be white on thermal? I could be completely wrong here, but since snow has such a high albedo it would reflect most of the heat, which would give it the appearance that it's much hotter than it really is.

It doesn't matter what color a substance is, on a FLIR camera, all that matters is its heat signature or frequency at which particles vibrate. So snow would be black.
White reflects most of the color spectrum, while black absorbs most of the color spectrum. If we had two objects made out of the same substance, one painted white and the other painted black. The object painted white would have a lower surface temperature then an objects painted black. On a thermal camera the white object would be darker and the black object would be brighter.Comment

Well, our DSP satellites monitor IR, and snow sometimes gives false returns as having the IR "temperature" of missiles. I've never looked through thermal optics at snow, but it seems during daylight hours some reflected sunlight could be pretty "bright."Comment
