Its not the trend if we only got two options and limited parametres. And its not because of the latest game considering that most of videogamers who know who Bob Kotick is see MW2 as just the beginning.

Right now, quite honestly, I can say only Konami would be the one Im familiar enough and who hasnt ****ed their fanbase over (yet). Over the past 5 years, even the illusion of publishers and developers working to keep their fans happy, has faded as its all about money and business now.

I dont like it when people are accusing the gamers to be fickle and stuck to trends, even though we are a fickle bunch of mofos, easily turned with a 10 second teaser trailer. :p

I'm not sure Activision would have gotten such a bad voting turn out, had this poll been done before MW2.

I mean the CoD series up until MW2, has been quite good, and they've done, Quake, Guitar Hero, Pitfall, Spiderman, Star Trek, some star wars, Tony Hawk, True Crimes, Xmen, Wolfenstein, and I'm sure other popular games that I'm missing.

I voted EA, because I like more games by them, but Activision isn't all that bad. And I also agree that there are more (better) publishers out there than the latter, but they don't get the recognition because they don't have blockbuster title games.

Tony Hawk: milked into the ground on an annual basis, if not more frequently
Guitar Hero: milked into the ground on an annual basis, if not more frequently, and most aren't even on the PC
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Friend or Foe, anyone? Even Spider-Man 3 was pretty bad on the PC with horrible framerates. At least that was my experience with a GTX280.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: not even released on the PC!

Even without MW2 adding a serious black mark towards them(in many PC gamers' eyes) I think the results would have been the same. They've been grinding franchises into the ground for far too long, and providing crap ports the whole way.

EA have been guilty of this as well, but they haven't ruined as many games that could have been good in the way that Activision have. The higher the rise, the further the fall.

While the developers are the ones making/releasing substandard games, lack of focus from the publisher causes the PC to get crap ports. Deadlines set to meet monetary goals instead of quality development goals also lead to crap ports. If they're going to have to cut somewhere, it's on the PC version. So while the publishers might not be as much to blame as the developers in some cases, in many other cases the developers may have made a great game for the PC if they didn't have the Nemesis running the show.

Publisher is more often than not the reason why we get horrible games. They are also the ones responsible for lack of support as very few actually finance the developers post-launch tech-support. This could be a rumour or just a cruel joke, but I heard that only 2 people worked on BF2 1.5 patch. Publishers push the deadlines, often to an unreal extent. Not to mention that a lot of them also develop games.

Naturally, this doesnt save us from developers with no sense of vision who provide games which just suck.
