    Re: mouse buttons 4 & 5

I dont remember the button numbers, but here is the config I use in most games:

    LMB: Shoot
    RMB: Scope
    RearThumbButton: Crouch
    FrontThumbButton: Melee
    MouseWheelUp: Throw grenade
    MouseWheelDown: Throw special grenade
PressMouseWheel: Switch weapon / prone, depending on the game.

So you should be able to have 7 functions mapped on a gamer mouse

Mouse 4 and Mouse 5 work perfectly fine on my MX500 - I use mouse4 for voice chat, and mouse5 for melee

Yay, my mouse is slightly older then Vrekis - what do I win? Though I'll be upgrading it soon, sorta broke the mouse "wheel" bit, but the other wheel buttons work...

        Mouse 4 = Weapon swap
        Mouse 5 = Knife

works like a charm on MW2....

Cheers for the responses, working ok now!!

I think I have a dodgy mouse to be honest, a few years old now & certainly been used alot. It just let me map the buttons after about the 10th attempt without me really doing alot. For a few rounds my gun was shooting a quick burst when I crouched used mouse button 4 without me clicking the fire button, which is really great when you are trying sneak up on people (not!). Seems to have settled now though. Looks like santa will have to buy me a new one!!

I use a Logitech MX518. I honestly cannot see how anyone can use mouse5 for anything. Mouse4 is in a perfect spot for quick melee but mouse5 is in a horrible spot for any quick action without needing to shift my hand so I don't hit mouse 4 as I hit mouse 5. Mouse 5 should really be below mouse4.

the best place for another button is to the right of the right mouse button. using the right hand ring finer. such a natural position. the creative fatality mouse had this "tertiary button" and it pwnd. never seen it on another mouse.

You need to grow larger hands Looking at my MX518, there appears to be plenty of room for another row of two buttons on the left side. That would be great.
The most useless button must be the one on top of the mouse, you cant really use it witout letting go of the mouse

The mouse wheel often doubles as a button in that position. But I always use my index finger for that, otherwise I will scroll the wheel instead of clicking it.

I used to have my frag grenades set to MouseWheelUp....then realized I couldn't cook them and assigned them to an actual button. I use my MouseWheelUp for secondary nades smoke/flash/stun and MouseWheelDown for knife...if you can get used to swiping the wheel down for melee, it PWNS!

Well I never got around to the idea of cooking grenades, but you could assign a secondary button for when you need to cook.

No, That's the problem. My hands are almost too big for the mouse, so I have to have my hand farther back than most people so that my fingers are in the mostly correct position on the mouse buttons except for my thumb which does not reach mouse5 as easily. I know I shouldn't use my mouse with my wrist, but don't really have a choice with my situation.

anyone know if secondary inventory key is used at all in this game? i thought claymore might be but it uses the grenade button. the key assigned to secondary inventory seems useless from what i can see.

Launching cooked grenades is truly an art form, I am sure some will agree. When I see a grenade icon I usually run the opposite way..cooking doesn't allow that

This is why most competitive modes have nade cooking off.
