    Not really. You still have to ship the new discs to stores and then you have to pay for price of a new cd or dvd, as well as the sheer profit stores make from used copies of games For new games, the store has to pay initial fees or else they will not get their game, but if they reuse copies, they can keep earning money without continually paying the distributors and creators, etc. Basically, they get WAY more profit from used games, so this business plan makes sense.

    Really sucks for the developers and manufacturers, though. They lose out on billions of dollars because they have very little say over used copies.

      And yet PC piracy is the scapegoat...
      I'm quite certain they lose a lot more money to the second hand console game market and quite a bit to rentals. After a few rents, a store has made way more than the game cost to them, little to none of it going back to the people who made/published the game.
      There is nothing stopping them from having CD Keys that tie console game copies to Live or PSN accounts. But they won't attack their favorite little boys and girls. Even people like the OP. :rolleyes
