Trading in broken games, think they will notice?

I recently broke my fallout 3, it seems if you hit your xbox while a game is in it it makes a nasty sound and makes a complete circle scratch around your disc. This happened when I tried to pick up some garbage under the table and I hit the thing with my elbow. My brand new Dragon Age:Origins game also broke my mom came rushing into my room wanting to take my router because I did not shower for 1 week :laugh: and she ended up hiting my xbox with her foot by accident. So now I have to broken games that are worth a lot of money when you trade it in. I was thinking about heading to EB games to trade in the game but I don't think it's a good idea, I have noticed that all the used games at EB games already come in a disc holder paper flap, this must mean they look at the disc. I do have another option, trade it in at best buy or my local video store. I think my local video store won't even look at the disc, last used game I got from there had no paper flap holding the disc. If I trade it in on a day some girl is working there that will increase my chances, she will probably not even look at the disc but I think a guy would.

So what do you think my chances are at trading in these 2 broken games? Do any of you know if best buy checks the discs?

My mother owes me this game dec 1 and I will buy fall out game of the year edition sometime anyway.

They will check discs, yes. At least they do in the UK.

They use to make a contraption that would fix just about any scratched disc....think it was called a Disc Dr. They work like a charm but run about $50 but usually will fix about 50 discs before you have to replace them.

Any store that you try and turn those games into will check them. Personally, from someone who works in retail, shame on you for trying to pull that kind of crap. Even if you could get away with doing it, you do realize that some kid will probably wind up buying those games with his hard earned allowance money or money from his first job only to get home and find that they don't play. To top that off, most places will write up or even fire employees that take back merchandise that doesn't work or isn't resellable. May God have mercy on your evil soul.....you deserve losing a game or two for having that mentality and well for not showering for a week, that's disgusting....

They check the discs, yes, and then they charge a fee if the disc is scratched or unplayable. They then send it to a factory where they refurbish the discs for minimal fees, and then the discs are transported all over to their stores. That's what a good employee does- the bad ones, well, they let the users check their discs for themselves. :/

Haha, okay I am an evil man and Im going to Hell :salute:. Does this disc doctor actually fix scratched discs so it works? Or do they just remove scratches with no guarantee of the disc working again? Anyone know where I can buy it?

well it buffs the scratch out of it with a sandpaper wheel, then you take a sanding cloth and shine the thing back to perfection. I don't know what guarantee's they have, although everything i ever tried with it always wound up working again.

my girlfriend at the time bought it for me for Christmas at the Sam Goody (they're basically a music, movie and game store down this way) she worked at. I wouldn't know where to send ya up there. Here's what it look like though:

I've seen a few similar contraptions but that's the exact one I had. Thing worked really well until I lost one of the clothes that came with it.

and for the record, aren't you trolling me calling me a troll.....if my anger at customer's knowingly trying to pull things makes me a troll, then so be it....

This will sound weird, but I fixed my Gran Turismo disk by smearing it with toothpaste, rubbing it in with a cotton bud, clearing it off with water.

just come in super late when the store is about to close, the guy will be so tired that he wont bother to test them out. Thats how you do it.

I bet it costs more to ship the disc back and forth then to actually make a whole new copy.
