As good as an idea as this sounds for preventing spawnrape/spawn point camping, I'd hate to be enroute to an enemy base and see a soldier spawn in in front of me and paste me before I can damage him. True, it probably wouldn't happen very often, but how annoying it would be when it does. Same goes for people who spawn on squad leaders (or is that out...is this the game you can spawn on any squad members, not just the SL?). Imagine an SL taking your base and trying to stop him, only to have new soldiers show up who are immune to fire for a second and a half.
I hope the 1.6 second spawn protection doesn't apply to spawns on the squad. If you spawn on the squad, you don't need spawn protection since it was your choice to spawn in the battle. No invincibility on the squad spawn and canceling it when you fire after flag spawns would protect people spawning at bases, but prevent "cheap" invincibility kills from happening.

I agree with this. I'm sure DICE has already considered all this anyway, I was just thinking out loud.

No Crosshairs. No Minimap. More Lethal Weapons. No Kill Cam. No Regen Health. All Skill.

BC2 "Hardcore mode" I like it.

He should have added, 'No shock paddles.'. THEN it would be truly 'hardcore'. Sounds cool otherwise, though. Wonder if that means vehicles would have no HUD/crosshairs (they should since they would IRL anyway).

            Ugh. Not "hardcore" mode again.

TBH it just makes the game easier for those who suck at it, most namely in CoD4...

FFFF Not hardcore mode... no killcam I agree with, but the rest is far from needed personally.

I dunno, i think the hardcore mode sounds good as long as every weapon isn't one shot on kill.

                - No crosshair -> most people would use scope anyway
                - No minimap -> not a huge loss if you know the maps already
                - more lethals weapons -> Sure it makes it a bit easier for those having problems aiming, but there's medic class and defib unlike in CoD4.
                - no regen health -> havent' need it in any of the previous BF games so no problem there.

I think this will be good when you get a good teams. Requires more communication, to spot enemies since there isn't minimap, and squadplay in form of revives and heals. Even if you got camper snipers, the medics will just reive all downed teammates before running for cover.

wow that's a bit too hardcore imo, lol.

knowing the map inside and out is crucial with no minimap.

Does that also mean no UAV or the like? (Or has that already been excluded?)

Hardcore is only added in because there wont be any mod tools. Think about it, guys. Its an obvious sign, they are going to include everything they can because post-launch, theres ****-all the community will be able to do.

And Im giving IW the benefit of the doubt that 1.6 second spawnprotection works only at flags and if you shoot the gun after you spawn, the spawnprotection wears off.

This, however adds to the potential exploits and cheats which may abuse and extend this solution.

Also it was stated by dice that in hardcore mode that the little dots that show up above a players head will be removed. Which is AWESOME!

Any news on the number of players supported? Trying to find a new FPS game to be excited about now. Please tell me it will be at least 32v32 on the PC.

32vs32 would be unlikely... both in terms of map size and technical difficulties. But 16vs16 would be a good estimate personally. But there's nothing confirmed so who knows.

I like the sound of hardcore mode but higher weapon damage doesn't seem needed at all, would like a mix between the two.

Minimap, minimal scanning tools (eg not completely ruining stealth), no freaking arrows or similar over enemies heads showing through walls, normal weapon damage (looks strong enough from the videos we've already seen) etc.

Regen health I'm fine with either way, especially as it's a very slow regen. So you don't have to run across the map with 5 hp to get a medic, and dying when an enemy sneezes on you.

my question is how are they going to recognize work done in hardcore mode as more than normal mode? everything you do should count for more in hardcore, right?

a guy who makes a kill with all the aid of minimap and red dots shouldn't get the same amount of pts as a guy who makes a kill without the aid of all that stuff.

From the videos seen so far it looks like the guns kill at the correct rate, no 1 shot kills to the foot but neither is there emtpying 100 bullets into someone.

As for Hardcore, don't really like the sound of it, as long as its still balanced though I likely won't mind, as long as it doesn't make it easier for spray and pray noobs
