    BF2Deluxe Edition incl. BFSF (Original)

    I wonder if anybody cld help please!!!!

    I installed it the first time it worked fine no prob. tried the next day boom - nothing.

    When installing BF2Deluxe Edition incl. BFSF (Original DVD-CD) and wanting to run the game it crashes with blue screen and reboots my PC.
    I have played the game on my previous pc without fail with lower specs than my new pc.
    All other games play fine i.e Oblivion, Crysis, Far-Cry 2, All Need For Speed games, Assasins Creed and EA sports games ect.

    PC SPECS:

    Pentium(R) Intel(R) Dual Core @ 5200 Wolfendale
    MOBO - Intel (R)
    RAM - 1.5G
    HDD - 2x 320GB
    Pci_Express Geforce 9400GT @ 512mb ver.3
    Updated Drivers - DX_9c & Nvidia Drivers for above.

    I've tried numerous things and just have NO joy - I've uninstalled/manually removed in regedit after install - changed the .con files - just NO joy - IT just won't play - The dvd disk is not even a week old, so no scratches.

    Well, given it's a BSOD, it's going to be something taking down a piece of hardware as it crashes. What OS are you using?

    Has BF actually installed, or does it crash when attempting to install?

        Follow these instructions:

        1.

        Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

        2.

        Click the Advanced tab.

        3.

        Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.

        4.

        Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.

        5.

        Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.
        Try to run the game again. When it crashes, copy down the code or anything displayed in the BSOD. Even better, take a picture of it and show us.

          Ok cool, I'll give it a bash tonight and see - I've tried pausing the blue screen but it clears to damn soon. But a report is created by microsoft when the pc is rebooted.

          I'll take down these details and submit them 2morow.

          Thanx - your replies are quick. (what is BSOD?)

            Those instructions above will stop the PC automatically restarting and keep the blue screen up for you to read.

            BSOD = Blue Screen of Death.

            I might also recommend upgrading to Windows 7 64bit. It's a huge deal more stable than XP and performs much better in games :)

              Boet!, maybe Windows7 is released in the UK - S.A is behind man. I tried getting my hands on it for free download - but that has expired.

              Ok, thanx so the blue screen will then remain long enough to read then - I will then record the blue display and submit it to you guys.

              Thanx again.

                  sounds like audio chipset issues. have you installed latest audio drivers for your audio chipset? you're using onboard right?

                    I thought much, looking at string ***viahd. Yup, on-board sound. I only installed the software that came with the MOBO.

                    Ye-Think - it might be sound software related?

                      Ok - here goes! this might be the most stupid question of the day...
                      How do I go about downloading the latest software of my on-board sound___I'm buffled___I had look on the software cd supplied with my mobo....It installs all mobo utilities with one click ->GO.

                      When opening up the CD in explorer there are two drivers for sound?
                      VIA and Realtek AC'97.

                      Opened up the readme file and get this:

                      [ Realtek\AC97 ] Realtek AC'97 Audio Driver. *
                      * Version 3.96 (6200), Release 2006/12/11. *
                      * For Win2000/WinXP/WinXPx64/Vista32/Vista64 *
                      * *
                      * [ Realtek\HDAudio ] Realtek High Definition Audio Driver. *
                      * Version 2.04 (5700), Release 2008/09/09. *
                      * For Win2000/WinXP/WinXPx64/Vista32/Vista64 *
                      * *
                      * [ VIA ] VIA High Definition Audio Driver. *
                      * Version 6.30a, Release 2008/09/15. *
                      * For Win2000/WinXP/WinXPx64/Vista32/Vista64

                      Based on this and above - how do I know what to download on www.realtek.com?

                        don't use the CD. go to the manufacturer's website and download the LATEST drivers. if you don't know where, google it.

                          Manufacture? RealteK?

                          ok, I've downloaded their latest drivers from realtek both - AC'97 & VIA HD audio codec drivers. I'll give it go and if all fails - I think I will revert back to to my prev. PC's realtek drivers since that never gave any problems.

                          I hope I understand this correctly - manufacture for Intel MObo or manufacture of on-board sound chipset.

                            Yeah, it can be confusing uodating onboard devices, but the problem is your sound drivers for sure. At least you know where/what to fix now :)

                              Thanx guys! I'll let you guys know of my progress once I tried resolving the driver issues and the outcome.
                              If its just that causing me head aches damn I'll be stoked!

                              However, once i've loaded the new drivers and have no joy - I'll use an older ver of realtek that I had installed on my gigabyte mobo. hopefully, it doesn't give me grey hairs.

                              But once again, Thanx.
