It was on the PS3. Most of my friends have PS3s, yet I'm much happier with the PC version. I especially can't stand controllers.

Plus, I like servers with lots of people on them.

      30.

It really just depends on where your friends are playing which version you prefer. I like mods and all my friends play on PC so that version is a given for me.

Pretty sure it is 60. They kept bragging about it when CoD4 was in production. Either way it's less than 125.

You all are correct. I went to look it up to see who was right and the Xbox has a maximum FPS of 60. However, games have to be designed for that as well and can fluctuate in FPS anyway. CoD4 is a 60fps game. There are many other games that do 30fps as well.

Although i agree to some extent, on a 360 it is still hard to aim and it still does require one player to be better than the other. Another point with the aim assist is that it doesnt always assist you, you can be firing at a dude and have someone run in the line of sight and you end up following the wrong guy leading to your death.

The aim assist is barely worth people quarrelling over as it doesnt even come into account unless the player is about 1 metre away.

I definitely didn't have auto assist it seemed.

Re: Played COD4 on 360 for 1st time!

I had a similar experience to the OP. A friend is a console player and I'm PC, I played him on Vacent and he beat me 15-5. Which I'm not ashamed of, it was the first time I've ever played FPS on an XBox 360 and he played all the time.

I mainly died because I was trying to lean around corners (yeah... I found that out the hard way), I was trying to jump over stuff and falling short and the crazy 'I'll fly around at what ever speed I like' Analogue stick.

Not to mention I shot in front of him half the time because he was moving way slower than I'm used to.

Console FPS is way too slow for me, it's got a lot faster over the years with games such as Gears of War 2 but it still has a long way to come if it is to close the gap on PCs.

Re: Played COD4 on 360 for 1st time!

One thing that bugs me about console FPS games is the low FOV they have, designers always fall back on the premise that people sit further away from TV's than computer monitors so they lower the FOV to make it easier to see distant objects.

This may be true, and when you take in account the statistics of people still playing on standard TV's it makes even more sense.

It's still frustrating because it means you have to fiddle with the thumbsticks even more to be able to look around you, of course if they allowed you to adjust this in the game then people would cry foul of cheating.

The rub is that when these 'multiplatform' games show up on the PC they still insist on having a low FOV setting, which at least most games allow you to adjust upward to 90 from the default (75 - 80) FOV.

as for the maps, pretty sure the PC version will not let you filter maps from your game, they said it's left up to the vote option to change the map. Private games will allow you to select the map though (or that's what I thought 402 said anyway).

I played it on PS3, took about 30 mins to find a host, then the host would lag and quit, causing the lobby to close.

TBH I think its a different experience for everyone. There is no "xbox live experience", its more "lag by location experience"

Yeah, in piemans case, the opposite of what I thought would happen, happened. I figure the host would be standing there on an empty server.

                          Crazy Pieman.

I played the XBox 360 at my friends house for a while, It's nothing like the PC version, too bad most of the console players don't realize the huge difference.

You say "too bad" and although im a pc player and agree there are things with the console versions that are worse, there are also things that are a whole lot better, why too bad?

Wait, what's better about playing on the console version?

                                generally higher ping/more lag
                                imprecise aiming controls/random gunfire
                                unable to choose a map
                                less maps/no mods
                                worse graphics/resolution
lower bar for entry/more mouthy kids

When do the upsides come into play?
