• If you don't know, they made the friends list more xbox360 like

• Dynamic theme's...so far the sackboy one changes time according to system time
• There's a WHAT'S NEW panel for psn...Shows you the last 3 games you played (w/ quick start of the disk you have in), and shows you what's new in psn (all movies)
• GAME and VIDEO also have a direct "link" to the PS store now taking you to the respective PSN store locations (idk if EU got the video store yet)
• VidZone has yet to work in the 'states

But yeh i hate version 3, anyone else?

I dont hate or like the new firmware it added nothing I cared about.

Like:

• Integration of BBC iPlayer in XMB
• What's New Thing
• Dynamic Themes
• Friends status thing in top right

Dislike:

• Removal of noise after you launch a game
• Sparkly things in background on XMB
• New friends list

Haha, entertained by the little things, are we? I know what you mean, every time i turn on my sisters Mac or my Vista i get all warm and fuzzy inside

It's a nice refreshment and it looks cool with all the sparkles :wee:

I don't like the Friends list box colour... it can't be changed in the themes either, it looks terrible as the text on it is white and the background box around it is just a darker white/yellow tint... so it's harder to read the friends list now

Yaeh I'm not a fan of the grey boxes around each friend, seems just pointless I wish it would go back to before. Is it just me or has the text been made bigger on the XMB as well?

I looked through all of the options and couldn't see a way to change it back (closest thing I found was just the font).

I miss the ding and the spiderman 3 PLAYSTATION 3 logo after launching a game too oddly enough.

The only thing i really don't like that much is the gray boxes in the friends list...

Other than that, it's all good...

Btw, did anyone else notice that the sparkles move around when you shake the controller?

One other new feature worth mentioning is the dual audio output(couldn't come up with better word for it).

For me it's perfect because i have Logitech X-540 speaker system hooked to my PS3(low budget speaker system, i know). And before if i wanted the sounds coming from TV, i had to change it from the Audio settings(not a big deal, but it got annoying after about 1000 switches ). But now all i need to do is turn the speaker system off, and i get the audio from TV...

What are your thoughts for why they removed the ding and the colors, the pretty pretty colors?

They're trying to mimic the xbox -_-
But yeh, the sparkles look fabulous
