      Apparently not, it only goes to classic mode on some older apps. I don't think having aero running in the background takes any real processing since it's not really refreshing or redrawing. But, obviously, it affects AA in BF2 for some bizarre reason!

        thanks for the solution....i was about to reinstall the video drivers and repatch 1.4 and 1.5.....pretty sad that this wasn't caught in the extensive beta testing...

          Alex98uk, back when I was modding I had this all the time. You can turn it on and off at the click of a button pretty much (it's a side effect of creating maps) but I can't remember for the life of me what it was. Although I was on XP Pro at the time.

          I think it may have been something to do with Read Only permissions for something. Is your BF2 directory set to Read Only?
