Re: Question to the pros about mouse settings

I just use the sensitivity that feels te most comfortable , I use a Razor Deathadder and with the mouse side buttons set to changing the DPI with three settings of 400 (being the lowest) 900 (in the middle) and then 1800 (the highest)

I generally will always play on 1800 but when I went from a standard to a gaming mouse it took me a while to settle in .

My friend who I live with uses a saitek cyborg with the highest DPI being 3200 DPI which I find personally to high to game with he finds it comfortable and my deathadder to *unsensitive*? to play with :)

I have five dpi settings on this Razer Lachesis.

I use 125dpi for sniping in Project Reality.

          750 for sniping in 2142.

1625 for shooting, 1750 for knifing, and 4000 for flying and railgunning.

I use a very similiar set up, 1000 for sniping, 2000 for general running and gunning, then i have 3000 and 4000 setup for vehicles (jet and helo at 4k, tanks/apc/ground-defense at 3k).

I guess you have a Logitech G5 or G9 then, yeah?

2000 feels a bit high for gunning on a Razer, but seems to be about right on a Logitech. It's almost like the way that Nike & Reebok come up at different fits for the same size.

Slight diversion from DPI talk and onto mouse models... but....

                G5 shape + G9 tech = mousegasm.

does anyone knows how to find out what your dpi is? i beefed my standart mouse a bit up(prolly 2000 dpi i guess) and i wanna know how fast it is when i need to buy a new one if this one breaks.

anyways, i sped up my mouse as much as i could and i like it. fast reactions to quick changing enviroment and precise enough to snipe with the baur/krylov/scar and take out people at long range(~50-150 metres). though hitreg comes into play a lot of the time now and it becomes crap to play against unhitable persons(cm) or public.

my god, how do you people play @ 2,000 dpi. you move the mouse a ½" (a few cm for euros) & you're spinning in circles...LOL

im used to that, it gives you good reaction and it gives you good aiming. if i move my mouse 1cm it crosses half my screen from the left downside to the right side. it is just something you gotta get used to.

Re: Question to the pros about mouse settings

I have a G5. I keep it set at 1000Mhz and have the 5 custom DPI settings at 800, 1000, 1200, 1600, 2000. Usually play most FPS games like TF2, BF2142, etc at 1000 or 1200 DPI. If I'm in a vehicle, I'll bump it up to 1600 or so and then 2000 when I'm in a Rorsch. For sniping I don't like such a high DPI, though; it feels a bit too fidgety for me. I'll either drop it down a notch from whatever DPI at which I've been playing.

Changing mouse speed isn't the same as changing DPI. You might have changed your mouse speed, but it's still at 400 DPI. Go read some wikipedia articles about it.

Re: Question to the pros about mouse settings

I started with a MX518, was real good mouse for 2142. Had a standard mouse pad though. That and having a 500Hz polling rate seemed good enough.

Now I've changed to a razer diamondback and razer exactmat. Still running with a 500Hz polling rate.

I always run with the highest dpi too.

Now I get a really improved aim, made a real good difference.
