Should DICE stop making 1943 for the PC altogether?

Well I have noticed that a lot of people here have said that DICE should just stop making 1943 altogether for the PC. Well I thought i would make a poll and see how many of you all here think that.

Who the devil said that they should stop making BF43? There have been plenty of comments in respect to EA/DICE's competency in respect to making PC games after they said they had never tried to make a Snowbite engine based PC game before, but no one said straight up forget it. We need to show them that there are people willing to buy and play their games on the PC, that there is a community and that they can make money and not leave us for the consoles. If the stop making the PC version then BFBC2 PC version could follow, right along with Battlefield 3 for the computer.

i think the point a lot of people are trying to make is, if DICE wants to go about making the "PC" versions of their games in this manner (delaying and delaying like it's no big deal), they rather not have this game because there are more exciting games on the horizon (BC2, even BF3 later). of course we'll have to see when the game comes out to see if it was worth all this delay, but the way BF fans on PC have been getting shafted these days (delay of patches for BF2 and 2142 games in need of major security fixes - which seem to be handled by just a couple guys), it's no surprise they are very upset at how BF games on PC are handled. :shakehead:

I think they should. Can the project and have whoever is working on it, work on BC2 instead.

They should forget about it, and ALL the other devs who think designing games to run on the PC (4g IC7/4g RAM & major GFX capability) but having to design around a seriously out-of-date Console(s) is a good idea. DICE have just proved it to themselves, the engine is not ready, but, how could it ever be!

Get a grip games industry! Or is it still the money talking? And what is a million x 0?... f**kin annoyed.!

Who are these suits calling the shots, I'd love to see the revenue of say Bf1942 compared to Bf1943 - peeps still buy 1942, can't see the same for 1943 in 4yrs time!

Once bitten, twice shy.. 3rd time... continous RAGE! ... things must change & I advice upcoming developers see the gap and take advantage of having most of the big boys floundering with PC customers current & future fury about something that should not be attempted!

          You were right Gabe xD

Unless they're going to make it a true sequel to 1942, than they just need to can it. Anyone who's played it in 360, knows it has very limited playability. A problem no past BF game has had.

PC gamers/old school BF gamers do not want watered down console ports.

Says the guy who sticks to his PS3 for gaming. After having played 1943 the way they intended it to be played, on a console, do you really think it would be worth it to PC gamers to wait for another 6 months to play such a small game in the wake of MW2 and BFBC2? Why should Dice bother allocating resources to this game?

                  Say what?

If BF1943 PC had been released last week, you guys would be complaining right now that DICE shouldn't rush their games and release them before they're finished. If BF1943 PC had been canceled last week, you'd be whining that DICE doesn't care about PC anymore and Battlefield is dead.

You guys will probably ignore all of this and keep crying, but I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of the BF1943 PC team's efforts are directed at optimizing Frostbite for PC. All that work will transfer to BFBC2 PC as well. Now, given that BF1943 will be the first Frostbite game on PC, it's bound to have lots of problems and glitches for many people. Since you don't want a watered down console kiddie game like BF1943, you won't buy it. But many people will. And they'll experience the glitches and complain about them. DICE will be able to fix at least some of these problems in time for the BFBC2 PC release, thus guaranteeing you a better quality game.

We didn't set their deadlines. They did. And they have failed to meet them. Now that they plan on pushing it back to the middle of next year... why bother? They're fired. People keep giving them chances since everyone loved 1942 so much. BF: Vietnam was a buggy mess. BF2 was filled with horrible bugs that finally got mostly fixed, sort of. BF2142...
                      Heroes...
Now 1943. How many times do you let an employee drop the ball before you can him? So now how many times do you let a company squeeze out a turd with the intent to polish it later or miss deadlines, by months or more, before you finally write them off?
Great ideas and concepts, poor execution. Let them just finish the slide and start making shovelware for the DS and Wii and get it over with.

i'm willing to bet the PC development hasn't even started.

they said they needed 2 months more to finish it by sept. after console release.
now it's 6 or more months, so obviously they haven't even begun. also, they had vacation after finishing console versions.

I didn't realise that DICE were your employees. It's not as if they are losing you and your shareholders money.

If they don't make announcements (usually wildly inaccurate ones, fair enough) all we hear is 'where is our info, secretive b@stards', and if they do announce and get it wrong, then the sh1t hits the forum, so to speak.

I'm as keen as anyone to get the next gen of BF games for PC but whatcha gonna do?

People who sell products are basically the employees of their prospective markets by proxy. If you alienate and marginalize a portion of your market, you lose sales and therefore money. If you lose money, your shareholders aren't happy. If your shareholders aren't happy, nobody's happy. If your game doesn't sell as well, you lose development budget for your next game. And that's if you even get a next game.

Just because you're willing to gulp down poo doesn't mean I'll choke it down, too. Go ahead and buy every Dice product they release in the misguided belief that your money goes to making future games better.
What, you haven't spent 10% of your paycheck on costumes in Heroes yet? But I thought all of the money they got went to improving future games? Don't you want the next game to be awesome?
Personally, I'll remember all of the shenanigans of the past and present and think really hard about my next purchase from Dice or EA in general. But I'm a minority, and they know it. They know that hordes will line up to guzzle the kool-aid and please the almighty shareholders once more.
