    It's laughable at best...

I wont be buying anything that isnt similar in gameplay to bf1942, yet new and better. Zero interest in anything else. Bf43 definately does not meet those standards, its not even half what bf1942 was..

Dice you want my money ever again, build a proper game for gamers not noobs, or stay in the console business. I'm sick of the crap thats been fed at us the last couple years.

So let me get this right; you want to convince EA to make more PC exclusive games by making a PC game unprofitable.

Everyone should buy it because it's so cheap and would show that PC market can be profitable too, so we might get PC exclusive Battlefield.

The PC market isnt stupid, they wont keep buying garbage that is less then what everyone has come to expect. Its simple as that. They want profits? Its the same as any market, make a product people want.

And everyone shouldnt buy it, so they get the message that the PC market wont keep buy whatever they shove at us. And maybe they should start listening to their customers. If they are failing its completely due to that fact. Customer is always right!

That's not the lesson they've learned, though. They've learned that in order to make more money, they just need dumber customers.

I'll join, but it won't be necessary for this game to flop anyway.

Reason why BF1943 will fail on PC (And I own it on the PS3 btw, playing it to finally try out a console FPS for real instead of 5 secs and getting pissed at the controller)

                  1) This game is popular on the consoles, but they have never played these maps before; whereas, PC BF fans have played all 4 of these maps millions of times.

                  2) 4 maps...this is the PC crowd that gets bored easily...4 maps.

                  3) With the delay, it will likely come out around the same time as BF:BC2. Let's see, full game of BF:BC2, Frostbite engine, New weapons/maps, tons of fun or BF1943 with the Frostbite engine and maps/weapons that have already been played with and it's only a portion of a game?

                  4) There is still the possibility of some initial sales success for BF1943 if people still remember it by the time it comes out. But for reasons listed above, it will not stay popular for very long on the internetz. The numbers will start dropping off a few weeks to a month after the game is released.

You can't really use the lack of maps as a reason for it to fail, however. Look at how many maps there are for BF2, and compare that to the number of 24/7 Karkand servers. Ditto for BF2142 and 24/7 Gib servers. A lot of people will indeed stick with one map and play it until their eyes pop out of their skulls, but the question is does BF1943 have such a map?

Re: Would you PC guys join a boycott on 43?

You can use the small number of maps as a fail. Sure, SOME people play the same map over and over again, but compare the numbers playing BF2 now with the 24/7 of one map compared to when BF2 was in its prime with everyone playing it. Compare those percentages.

Well, it's got Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Wake Island, and Coral Sea. Depends if you can play one of those over and over again. I used to play Wake Island all the time, so that's why I somewhat wanted this dlc on the PS3, but the other maps are meh for me. Hence the reason I probably won't be playing this game for as long as a game that would have many more maps. If they had say remade BF1942 completely for BF1943 with all of the maps and such, THEN, I believe it could've been bigger than it will be for the PC. My prediction anyway.

Re: Would you PC guys join a boycott on 43?

Actually once the EA official servers were shut down for BF2 (don't recall exactly when that was, though), I had a hard time finding a server that ran through all maps, or even more than just Karkand. Then of course once IO hit all the stat junkies flocked to their 24/7 IO Karkand servers. Even prior to IO Karkand was popular due in large part to the airpower on the other maps.

Admittedly, part of that was because I was particular about the servers I joined; they couldn't be IO, I wanted FF-on, had to run a rotation of maps, and I wouldn't join any server where I looked at the roster in the browser and saw an entire clan on one team and all randoms on the other. But this is just my experience with NA servers, Europe servers may tell a different tale. I'm sure stats have played a large part it the one-map epidemic due to Karkand being a map where anyone can just spawn as medic or support and spam bags and rack up big points and KDRs, but BF2142 is surviving with pretty much Gib or city servers, and BF2's population is dominated by 24/7 Karkanders. While for myself and some others having only one map played does make the game worthless, it's not safe to say that if there's only one successful map in the game then the whole game would flop. The current BF playerbase is living proof of that. The only key would be to make sure one of the few maps released fits that bill.

Of course, I'm under the impression that all DICE would have to do is make a map that's just one long corridor, give every soldier defibs and unlimited grenades, throw in a stats system, and it would sell like hotcakes. But then again I'm a pessimist and have a great deal of contempt for the majority of the current 'BF' playerbase anyway. Hell, I spend more time on the forums than I do in the game because I'd rather chat about the game with the people here than play it with most of the people who are actually playing.

I hate it as much as anyone else when people overlook the serious bugs in BF1943 because of its price, but I think the small number of maps is something you can safely chalk up to the $14.99 price tag. Bad Company was released with eight maps for 60 bucks.

Bad Company 2 will also feature 8 maps. Bit low but if they're good quality it won't matter, especially if we get tools to make our own maps and DICE improve the support for them. Custom maps are really rare in BF2 and 2142 because of the ranking system and no auto downloading maps from the server.

I'm probably going to have to skip on 1943 now... but not intentionally.

Another thing regarding the 1943 maps, I am yet to play it but I assume they are somewhat similar in map style in that there no real close quarters maps, there all pretty open maps.

Ehh, they're close quarters, but at the same time pretty open. Depends.
