    Fov

Okay, so I've been giving this FPS thing on consoles a serious go, and it's somewhat fun to me just b/c I suck. The PC FPS game has almost become boring to me b/c I do too well in pubs, but I don't have the time for competitive play.

SO, as I'm playing console FPS games, I am now holding the controller right and turning the sensitivity way down has also helped. But there is still one thing hindering me from being better, or I should say, making me feel more comfortable so I can do better. That thing is the FOV, field of view. I feel like I have blinders on... is there ANY way to adjust the FOV on a console? CoD:WaW was almost unplayable when the beta first came out b/c of the FOV problem where it was the same FOV as the consoles.

I'm hoping there is some way, although I can't really think of how. Let me know, and you get +rep if it works... and a virtual cookie.

You mean like the brightness? Just go to options>video and tinker around with the settings. It takes multiple tries, but you also need to get used to it at the same time. Or you can go into the settings of the PS3 it self.

TBH, i feel that console FPS's tend to have more little kids and immature people then PC's do. I also feel that making a switch from PC (more sensitivity on a controller) to Consoles (less) is much easier and tends to make you a little bit better. (I won a FFA CodWAW match by getting 10 kills and calling in dogs and just putting the controller down).

What game are we talking about here?

You can't change FOV in any general settings on the PS3, it's only done per game... and if it's for CoD4 or WaW then their may be the FOV setting in the Options of the game, I don't have either game so I can't check, but if it's not in the Options/Multiplayer Options/Graphics/Video Settings then it's probably not in the Console game...

I haven't seen any games on the PS3 where you can change the FOV, which is a shame as KZ2 in particular could do with a larger FOV, it seems to a smaller angle on that game though the slow turn speed might make the problem worse.

            Re: Fov

The game I was referring to was BF1943, and it was for the Field of View Will, not the brightness.

I tried out the demo for CoD:WaW on the PS3 and the controls did feel slightly better (Dairuka I know didn't rate BF's controls that high), but I think I would enjoy FPS games on the console more if this one thing could be adjusted. BUT, I can try getting used to it some also. It seems to be an unnatural limitation of your view though. In real life, for me anyway, I definitely have a greater field of view than what these FPS games on the consoles are portraying... :|:

Console games have a ridiculously low FOV and unfortunately there's pretty much nothing you can do about it.

Both because you sit further away from the TV than what you would do with a computer screen, but also because of performance, it might not be noticeable on PC's but a higher field of view means slower performance. Console games usually run capped at 30 FPS, so everything that keeps the performance up helps.

Not really, most games make a BIG fuss about it if they can keep the game above 60FPS. Wipeout HD being the prime example. I think KZ2 was happy (and by happy I mean that they were talking about it as a feature) with 30 FPS online.

Yeh but KZ2 has insane graphics
                    Isn't OPF2 gonna be 60 as well?

There's only a handful of console games running at 60 FPS. Not many at all.
