BF:BC2 PC Mutiplayer Support from TGL?

I haven't seen much discussion on the possibility of competition on BF:BC2 PC in TGL. I know TGL is a major supporter of the Battlefield series, with many of its games running successful seasonal play through the years (BF2, 2142, etc), I was wondering what the status was?

Are we going to see support for the upcoming BF:BC2 PC Mutiplayer in TGL? I think most people know that Heroes isn't exactly competition friendly, and BF1943 being a "pick it up and play for a few hours" (according to EA) game. BFBC2 seems to be the only battlefield game in the near future that will be a prospect for competition on a large scale.

I know a lot of the former BF2 and BF2142 competition teams will be playing BFBC2 on PC as soon as it hits the shelves. So, will TGL be running leagues for the game? Possibly tournaments with sexy prizes?

With RTCW2 Mutiplayer still unknown and untested, COD4 dieing out, there are very few games out there in the future that will be competition ready.

MW2 and BF:BC2 are the only games that could have a future in TGL Seasonal/Tournament play.

As long as they don't keep the squad system from the consoles then you might be alright. The current squad system for BC is terrible on console. In 1943 it is a little improved but what they really need to do is implement the squad system from BF2/2142 in BC2 for PC for this to work in TGL. Thats my opinion anyway.

Its already pretty known that the PC verison of BC2 is going to have more gameplay modes than the consoles. PCs have a lot more variables than consoles, which gives the the ability to make better utilities knowing that it won't clutter the game in confusion. Considering they have done the squad setup you speak of in previous games (BF2/2142), I'm fairly confident in their ability to copy their own ideas and put them into play (such as squads) for the PC version.

Now, the way they have 1943 setup is something that I have never seen before. It remains to be seen how the PC version of 1943 plays out. Consoles are very limited in their ability to have team utilities (such as squad functions on a large scale) because you are simply working with a controller. I'm sure thats why they left out the perfectly good squad systems in all of the console games they have released recently.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say the PC version is going to have more gameplay modes? I would think that all the different game types will be present in both the console version and PC if thats what you mean? If your referring to the player count then yes DICE have said that the PC version will be bigger which is understandable.

1943 adds the ability to create a squad (on consoles that is) which is a big improvement from the original BC. But there are still problems with the system like not having a squad leader or being able to assign objectives such as capturing a flag. It is still a long way off from being a full squad system tho I imagine the PC version will be much improved on the console version.

DICE said in an interview about BC2 that in BC1 they had tried to simplify the game for console players and that they realised this was a mistake and that with future Battlefield titles the PC and console version will be more or less the same. So I would think that the only real differences in BC2 will be player count and interface and not things like game modes, maps, classes, etc.

While I agree that the PC interface makes it easier to setup and select squads, etc I don't believe that this can't be done on consoles. With the right interface I think this could be possible and that hopefully DICE are working on this for BC2. Whether or not this will happen, well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I believe it was on the BC2 Forums where they had announced the different gametypes the PC version would have over the console. It was released on april 1st, so people though it was a joke until they confirmed it.

In this post I am merely requesting what TGL's future plans are for competition, specifically for the BC2 PC. I was just stating that, in the PC version, it will have many more functions then consoles, which means it has the potential for a BF2/2142 play style (with squads, dedicated servers, etc), which makes it a viable option for leagues and tournaments in the PC platform.

As for the consoles, I couldn't give you the slightest information on how the squads will be setup. From information gathered from interviews I know that it will be much smoother and fun in terms of gameplay, but I'm not sure if you will see a lot of depth in the squad systems. This is mainly due to the limitations of the console. They are a business, they want to sell their game thats easy to pick up and play. In-depth squad systems would probably confuse the average console player, which is something they don't want. Even though it would be better for the game, they want the player to have instant gratification from the second they play so they continue to come back.

Do you have a llink or know what these game types might be? I can't seem to find any info on it and I'm quite curious to see what they have planned for the PC version.

Your probably right about the whole console squad system tho. Its a shame because it feels like the console version is just a few things away from being as good as the PC version. I don't think they will be able to compete with the likes of COD until they do something quite different like say increase the player count (Bigger than COD anyway) or add a more complicated squad system like the PC version.

Anyway sorry for going off topic. But yeah I think Bad Company 2 would work in TGL as long as its popular enough.

              BC2 on TGL?

You know what this means... TGN teamm!

But in all seriousness, you can actually spot objectives in 1943, I have done it myself. Besides that I think you have to be the squad leader to do so.

Oh cool I didn't realise that. Do you just look at the flag for a while like spotting an enemy or is there a button to press? Personally I'd prefer a button but anything is better than not being able to set objectives I suppose.
