I tend to agree. I think it will be PC, Xbox3, PS4.

That being said...I totally hope that I'm 100% wrong, and that it comes sooner, as a PC-exclusive. :) I just can't see EA passing up the opportunity for bigger profits. Maybe a miracle will (has) happen(ed), and the execs in charge have decided to go for real quality, for a change, and try to get some of their past dominance of the PC-shooter market back, just on principle.

I very much doubt it will be on the PS4 as Sony have stated that the PS3 is only a quarter of the way through its 10 year life span so unless you wanna wait at least 4-5 years for BF3 on PS4 then I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I really doubt it will stay pc exclusive but I'm not sure if current consoles could handle large player count AND the destroyable environment.

For moneys sake, it could be multiplatform. But I'm gonna go with PC only, lest DICE rile up a community tidal wave.

Doing things on principle does not make the shareholders happy. Money makes the shareholders happy. I highly doubt any EA exec will do anything on principle.

okay, maybe the consoles deserve a 24-player version of BF3. :) (BF3 Lite)

i mean DICE did come out and say they have STRICT limits on consoles that prevents them from going to high player counts.

Remember, ArmA 2 is being released on consoles too, and in no way has that game been 'dumbed-down' or infantilized for the PC. (Although I don't see how it will ever work on the current generation of consoles)

I imagine BF3 will come out on the new generation of consoles, whenever that may be.

I don't have a link off hand, but I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that a DICE dev stated it is a bandwidth issue on the consoles, especially the 360 (a Microsoft imposed limitation). With the destruction component they simply don't have the bandwidth to handle more than 24 players.

Yes, I can attest to that having done (and doing) some development stuff on the Xbox 360, bandwidth is definitely an issue. Additionally, there is a hardcoded player limit in the framework of 31 users in any one particular multiplayer session (at least P2P for sure, not sure about player to server to player connections). That means current user plus 30 others. Although, as one of the XNA framework developers said, "Good luck getting there. You'll run out of bandwidth far before you get there."

I can only imagine this game being made for PC.. The size of the game just wouldn't work on a console hence the BC series to fill the void.
