I'm sorry to say but you're an idiot.

You try to make building PC's sound like they cost so much more than they really do.

Most people's gaming PC's cost $700-800 and they run games on high, even Crysis at 1680x1050 res.

You are part of the problem. Morons think that in order to play games they have to spend $2000 on a "gaming" PC. Having stupid *** blue LEDs on everything does not make it special for gamers.
Thank you thank you, someone else who knows! The era of the "gaming PC" costing an arm and a leg is gone... contrary to Alienware propaganda. Don't pay attention to those Bullsh*t full page adds or retailer advertisements. You know what else? With micro atx motherboards and lan boxes you have nice portable, size conscience YET upgradable PC. What were PS3's and 360s costing when they 1st came out?

It comes down to different mentalities. Those A.D.D kids who can't do anything beyond pushing "on" and start" then team killing right after spawning versus the adults who know how to optimize games and play as a team.

Console players think they have a taste of multiplayer gaming and know what using headsets and clans are all about. Just remember many of us having been doing just that for a decade now. Using playable vehicles is not a new thing, we've got 7 years up on you there. With the mouse and keyboard we don't need the subtle auto-aim. We also don't need 3rd person view to strafe around corner or know where we are getting shot from.

I've introduced many of my younger relatives to PC games and the BF series. All of them coming off of xbox and what not and all for the 1st 2 months showed their maturity and grasp of multiplayer gaming concepts. I'm talking people between 19-12 years old. They all got banned for ramming, teamkills, using a vehicle as a taxi and leaving it blocking other vehicles, abandoning a perfectly good tank to capture a control point, looked for every glitch imaginable, never "squaded" up, wrecked countless aircraft, used their mics only to shout and sound like jackasses BUT!!! over time it sank in. In time they were broken from the juvenile ways, they developed skill and executed teamwork, they knew how to find cover and hit & fade. Also in time they used their 500-600 PC for games and everything else and left their xbox for their much younger siblings.

Not an "idiot" just have limited knowlegde about computers. Choose your words wisely. Aswell I do read from PC reviews for certain computer parts from PC mag. They do provide comparisons of the hugh differences & advantages of related items.

Having limited knowledge doesn't make you an idiot, trying to sound like you know everything about gaming rigs does.

My rig cost me about $600 and i have a ATi 4870 HD Card with a dual core 8800 and 4 gb RAM with a 500gb hard drive and a very nice motherboard.

That runs crysis at full potential, sorry Human Error but you are wrong.

Re: Battlefield 3 and what it could mean for PC gaming as a whole

$5000 later and I'm finally happy with my rig.. I went from an 8800GTX to a 9800GX2 and then finally to a HD4870... And along with a few motherboard upgrades and HDD's I'm finally finished and have paid the price for my mistakes..

However I always buy things when they first come out so I get ripped off a lot

But as others have said you can easily build a brilliant gaming PC for a respectable price.

If it is PC exclusive, they don't hold it back and do their absolute best with it, it beats BF2 and is truly an exceptional game, PC gaming will be back, BIG TIME!

Hell there was so much hype about Crysis, even though it didn't deliver(atleast online), Battlefield if it delivers, is going to go through the roof.

I hope they really really push it, innovation, gameplay and graphics wise, I want maximum setting graphics to require atleast 1 "step" of the future generation of hardware... I want them to really push it with no limits.

I'm just curious as to how they are going to make it Graphic intense without putting too much strain on the servers? They are laggy enough as it is.. I REALLY want nice graphics too but is it going to be possible?

intense graphics etc isn't as much as an issue compared to Ram usage or physics etc, ram usage nom noming memory and physics piling pressure on the CPU

but servers are designed with both of those aspects in mind so it shouldn't be too much of an issue

although then throw in large player counts; but thats what more cores are for

I wouldn't worry about it, the servers will be able to handle it

Yeah, graphics are mostly client side. It's keeping all the physics and destruction synced with 64 players or more that will put strain on the servers.

I think from what I heard from developers about 'having something for the pc gamers' that this would be a PC exclusive. I think it should, it will still sell well just on the PC unlike some other games that NEED to be on the consoles also to generate enough revenue.

I agree, this is a much needed thing for PC gaming. If this is a PC exclusive and doesn't do well enough though, it could pretty much end any future PC exclusives. :hmm:

i don't see it being for consoles, unless DICE eats their own word about consoles being limited to 24player limit.

If it was for consoles and had a 24 player limit I wouldn't get BF3. If multiplayer was less then 64 players I wouldn't buy it. I really want 128 multiplayer! And huge maps that I can blow the shiz out of with tanksss and jets! BF2 was so amazing and 2142 was pretty awesome too that I really doubt they can f up BF3 as long as they put the same amount of effort and time into it.

I wouldn't get my hopes up of BF3 having any more than 64 players if they put in Bad Company level physics. Even if they do somehow manage, almost no one would rent/buy a server that would be able to run something like that.

Well why does the physics matter? Not everyone is gonna see every building blow up. And at one point someone must have said the same thing about 64player servers. I think it can be done.
