    Battlefield being on PC means there are no limits and not having to suffer from consoles which HAVE limits.
    _____
    PC's have no limits huh? :salute:

    There will be new hardware and software by the time this hits.. Unless its a 64 bit only game, supports Win 7, maximizes core i7 then its not going to be much more than Frostbite with an 80 player cap.

    Time will tell if its going to be worth the 2 grand.

      Now of days it has more profit for game dev's to go cross platform.So i think bf3 will be cross platform,It is not what we want is the name of the game it is how much money we can make of this game that means going cross platform like crysis 2 is doing.

      I AM 80% sure it will be cross platform.
      I am not a console fanboy i don't even own a console as yet.

      BTW i will just start it I WANT BF4 lol

        Since when do gaming PC's cost 2k?

        People build gaming PC's for $800 and they run every game on high.

          It is pretty unlikely that BF3 would be PC-only. As several people have said many times, there just isn't enough profit on 1 platform for the amount of work required. You only add a little more work, and a lot more profit, by developing for 360, PS3, and PC.

          Someone above said BF2's huge success would justify it. They're forgetting that was back before the popularity of Xbox360/PS3 and their online capabilities. Back then, PC was the only way to go to play a shooter like that online. Sales figures were posted in another thread somewhere in this forum (I'd have to look for it), which states BF2 sold about 1 million copies on PC, and BF2:Modern Combat on Xbox1, PS2, and 360 sold slightly more (about 1.2 million, I think). And that was mostly on the older consoles. That alone speaks to just how much bigger the console market is for these types of games, even back then. Now, it's an even bigger gap (you just have to look at sales of games like COD4 to see that).

          If EA/DICE are really serious about an awesome BF3 game, and don't want to wait for Xbox3/PS4 (which I still think they may), then the only alternative I see, and I hope this is how they do it...is to develop the game on PC first, make it the massive game everyone expects from a true BF2 sequel, and then trim it down for Consoles. If they do that, then I think everybody "wins".

Not to mention the lack of a server browser, which craps all over the foundations of multiplayer gaming for PC players who are accustomed to being able to choose their favorite server/map to play on. I specifically mention *map* because Bad Company pretends to let you choose what map you want to play, but I seem to always end up on End of the Line or Oasis no matter what I actually picked. Yay for choice!

                One of my favorite things about playing Battlefield 2 is the fact that I can say "nice kill" to someone who jumps from the bushes and stabs me in the face, or "thanks" to the teammate who just saved me from dying under enemy fire. In Bad Company, you have two ways to experience the amazing communications capabilities of console games: Xbox Live, where 12 year olds will shout racial epithets at you for "stealing their kills"...or PSN, where nobody seems to actually wear their headset - they just set it right next to their TV so every game action is echoed back to you with a 2 second delay and analog radio fuzziness.

                I enjoyed Bad Company immensely, and I'm definitely looking forward to Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 1943. But they're definitely not on the same level as Battlefield 2. I hope Battlefield 3 stays on that level too.

                Okay, 20 edits later and this has turned into a rant about about Bad Company. I hope you still get my point though.
                QFT lol.

                That was the bad part about BC1. I think we'll have to wait and see how the BC2 squad system, server browser, etc. is for a precursor on BF3's.

                And I can build a gaming computer that would run BF2 on high right now for about 700 bucks lol.

                  if you consider the huge following the game has, and the implementation of the ranked system and server rental for that, it can be a pretty big cash cow that can last a long long time if Dice really nail the gameplay

                      your crappy 360 cant do that, nor can your over rated ps3. If there gonna make console version, make PC version first, then tone it down for crap.

                          A case doesn't need to cost much at all. You can get a pretty simple one for $30 that will hold everything. People just tend to fall for marketing or something and buy "gamer" cases for crazy amounts of money.
                          It's the OS that really tacks on the price and people tend to forget about that $100-189 when they talk about BA $700 PCs.

                            I agree and I'm a very open "PC Elitist". Developers need to make games specifically for PC and all it's functionality not cross platform development where PC gamers get a dumbed down version of a game they could have. Granted this is where someone informs me of console game sales and how the companies go where the $$$ is and blah, blah but if it is cross platform then develop the PC version separately. There's just so much to it, like dealing with sophistication levels on either side of the fence. Most PC gamers know how to install a game, refine options within the game and troubleshoot if need be. Consoler gamers are more of the instant gratification mindset; turn it on and press start. Sorry but FPS on the console reflect that.

                            I'd love to make a video:
                            Guy sitting with headset mic and you see the glow of a monitor in his face. "All right 2 tanks heading to the North village. Oh crap Val is buzzing the airfield. Hey watch that destroyer off shore". Then show the monitor and it's footage of BF1942. A caption at the bottom says "2002".
                            Screens fades to black for a second.

Camera then shows the monitor and it's bf1943. Instead of a mouse and keyboard we see a controller. Caption at the bottom reads "2009" Then adds "welcome to where PC's were 7 years ago".

                            PEOPLE minus the monitor, keyboard and mouse you can build gaming PC's for $500 easily. Case included. Price them out on newegg.

                            Case with power supply= $50
                            Motherboard=$80

                            RAM=$40

                            I call the price difference between building a machine and buying 1 from Best Buy or some retailer 'technilogically challenged tax". If someone buys hardware-wise the same machine at $1100 as what someone else could just build for $500 then they deserve to lose that extra $600.
