BF: Bad Company 2 Multiplayer aspect discussion

a while ago i have bought Bad Company for PS3, played the SP finished it it was okay. Now moving onto the MP aspect, as i recently came back from university (summer vacay) i put in BF:BC patched it up and played the MP, and i thought damn this is good, one thing though no mouse, no keyboard and i cant get a steady head shot for sh!7.

But i really do enjoy the MP, now i heard that BF:BC2 is coming to PC! which is great news, but i wanted to hear what do you guys think about the MP impact it will have on us PC gamers?

    My thoughts:

I think it would be a great impact if the MP proves to be less buggy then previous BF games, not imba gfx such as Crysis, and great great game play! Frostbite engine and physics or blowing stuff up should keep this game up above water. But will it replace any other MP games most likely not for obvious reasons.

What obvious reasons? Lack of aircraft? Last I checked, the majority of BF2 players don't fly much. Look at the popularity of IO Karkand and Jalalabad. Both of those maps would only be improved by use of the Frostbite engine.
Honestly, I see BFBC2 replacing BF2 for a lot of people that only play IO and also have PCs that can handle it.

Why didn't you put this in the BFBC2 section of the forums, by the way?

The whole appeal of Battlefield was that you could do anything! fly jets, helos, drive tanks, apcs, shoot guns...

Infantry was never battlefield's strongest point, it was always the vehicles, now they are moving to infantry where they can't hold a candle to Call of Duty.

While I agree with you, and so will a lot of people on these forums, the majority of BF2 players don't seem to. They prefer playing small infantry-centric maps with no aircraft. Sorry.
But Dice is going to make games for the majority of their players in order to maximize sales. When most players obviously prefer playing without vehicles or on maps with ground vehicles only, Dice is going to make a game for those people.

Lower player counts than other PC Battlefield games. I doubt the Karkand IO crowd cares about destructible environments much.

Personally, I think it will be a blast. It looks like it could be a more than worthy successor to BF2 or 2142.

Then again, I didn't like jets and rarely play on servers with more than 32 players. 24 players on Karkand 64p is damn sweet

I think it'll be a fun game. Not really a big fan of BF2 to be honest so it'll be a welcome change for my modern warfare fix :P

The controls definitely are a major issue with any console shooter. Bad Company is a game I still play online, but the aiming with the controller is still brutally aggravating.

I really hope that they don't stiff up the aiming/controls on PC. I find when developers make games console-first, they always bastardize the controls/flow on PC, it feels slow and clunky.

I'm glad Bad Company 2 is coming out for PC, I enjoyed BC1 enough to buy it for $10, but there would be no way I would buy BC2 for Xbox 360, it just feels too wrong playing it on console. I don't think it's possible, or even appropriate to compare BC1 with BF2, they're not even remotely in the same leagues. BF2 is far beyond BC1 in my opinion, sure BC1 may have introduced some nice technical aspects, but in terms of jump-in, play online with your buddies on a large server of battlefield chaos, BF2 is so far ahead of BC1, that I can't even see how they could be compared.

If BC2 has any prayer for success on PC, it will need a few things at minimum:

-Upped player cap to AT LEAST 32 Players (64 ideally)

-Server browser / Private dedicated servers

-Custom aiming/movement to open up the game to PC fraggers

If they do those things, I'll plan on buying it for PC on day 1.

The maps are designed to cater to different player types and preferences. A lot more time and attention is given to the maps in BC2 than in BC1.

Pirelli can you confirm whether the PC versions of BF1943 and BFBC2 will utilize dedicated servers.

The auto-matching isn't ideal for players who aren't within a reasonable range with regard to latency.

I'm confused. What was that quote there for?
I'm not sure if you're verifying that the maps are for people who prefer infantry combat over land/sea/air vehicle combat, or what?

Maps for all players personally Battlefield is nothing without planes roaring overhead while dodging tank shells

He means that they are still making a big variety of maps with emphasis on different aspects of gameplay. They're not going to only make smaller, close quarters combat oriented maps, they're still making maps in different styles just like every other battlefield game.

BC1 was a very vehicle heavy game, just a bit smaller in scale than say BF2.

Personally I loved BC1, and with the amount of effort DICE is putting into BC2 I'm really looking forward to it, mostly due to the fact that I can now shoot people with a mouse and keyboard.

SO many frustrating moments where I would say to myself "dang, If I had a keyboard and mouse..."

And BC1 was reallly fun, especially if you had buddies who knew what they were doing, I'm just trying to imagine the massive loads of joy eradicating from my brain while playing it on the PC, with a higher player cap. :)

You think there will be player controlled jets on the PC version? I mean to only have choppers, I think skilled pilots will overuse this and make the game unbalanced. I'm sure ppl will master the chopper in no time, what will DICE do to make it even for ppl on the ground. Will there be jets to take down the choppers or will there be more AA?
