In my opinion PC's will always prevail - why?
Because game makers for the PC can build games for hardware that is out or going to be out at the time of their release. They can stress systems to the max, so they can make larger, more realistic, better games.
And in terms of PC vs. Console in hardware, the only time I think in terms of price console hardware can compete with PC hardware is directly at the time of the consoles release. After about a year, the price really evens out. Plus, just think of how much money you have saved spending $50 on a game at release versus $60, it adds up.
I also have heard that besides the Wii HD, the next "next-gen" console is not going to be release until sometime in 2012, just think of the type of hardware for PC's that will be out between now and then.
