Gunship hack???

Check me out on the Leaderboard...I say this because I've been playing this game since it first came out.
The SAAW is my favorite weapon of choice. I am 7th in kills using it.

Recently I've come across a gunship pilot by the name of Yourself.(the period is a part of his name).

I know my weapon...and know it takes 2 shots....to kill an unshielded gunship.
Check out his name...then checkout Yourself,,,,,,,,,,,,,nothing else.It brings up about 15 or so variations in the name...ALL DO NOT SHOWUP ON ANY LEADERBOARD!!!!!!!

Chattin to him ingame is more or less a useless excercise.He denys any knowledge of why he doesnt appear on any leaderboard....I've even hit his gunship with a DIRECT HIT from a tank....and he survives.Strange occurence is it not?

My first thoughts seem to be that he's circumvented some config file someplace to make his gunship so invulnerable.I dont bother even going into those files because I like to think that I play fair and am proud to say that I do.

But I know a hacker when i see one...especially this guy.

There's a weakness if you camp in good plain sight of the Titan when the gunships first come out of the bay.NO gunship can survive 2 direct volleys...even with thier shields up because they havent had time to charge up properly and act as the countermeasure they were intended to be.They go down....and they dont survive. IN his case...he doesnt........another strange occurence.

So all this said...........it's nice that there are gunships running around circumventing the rules...and the spirit of the game. Heads up if you ever see this guy....mainly on a TBG server...tampa.

off to report his butt to EA.........I think I have a valid argument to do so.

... nope, no invincibility gunship hack. And oddly enough I've played with Yourself. a fair few times, and I've never seen anything remotely dodgy from him. Good, friendly player.

Decent gunship pilots, especially the best (which in all fairness I wouldn't put "yourself." into although there's no doubt he's practised a lot and has improved a lot because of it) can ALWAYS dodge SAAW's. At most be hit by one missile but long escape the second to go and repair. Just because YOU are having difficulty killing him, doesn't mean he's cheating. Also, there are very few infallible positions for killing with any weapon, and given the SAAW is hardly the most reliable of weaponry (there's even a current thread on that subject) - it's completely normal to not succeed 100% of the time no matter how seasoned you are.

And another point, in my experience of flying I've been chased by a few SAAW missiles that have hit my gunship whilst NOT shielded and have done 0 damage. Happens quite frequently if I'm upside-down/flying at speed/performing an evasive move where the gunship physics flip the angle of motion suddenly. I've also been on the other end of the stick where I fire tank shell/sudnik/pilum round at a gunship, seen it hit quite visibly, but registered no damage.

So no, I believe you are being wound up by one of the games most stereotypical drawbacks. Bad hitreg. At the VERY least, I sincerely doubt the suggestion that he's hacking server files to make his gunship (and his alone) invulnerable.

It's well known that Tanks suck at times. You hit a walker and does no damage to it. This happens quite often. It has happen to me when hitting gunships also.

so...how do you explain the fact that if you look up his name...he doesnt show up on any leaderboard??...look up the name...see the different variations of it?.......that to me is a clear indication that something is fishy right there.
and I dont blieve you when you say that a direct hit ...square on the side right in front of the engine...wont bring it down...sorry..youre sadly mistaken there....i've brought many a gunship down that way in a tank...lucky shot..whatever you wanna call it....but it never survives that....EVER!!!!!

On numerous occasions I have hit gunships with tank shells and it has done nothing. Even more so with hits on walkers using the rorshe.

it is yourseif. with capital i. its a mate of me, he is just good at flying. i never have seen him do anything dodgy or impossible, but fast moving vehicles have dodgy hitreg, if you hit a gunship and the rocket explodes on your screen it will likely not have hit it as it would have flew by.

I can confirm that it is possible to hit a gunship with a tank shell and still not get the kill. I have done it many times. You fire, you see the hit, you see the smoke etc but you don't get a kill. A shell strike on a gunship is always a kill but....

Remember that what you see doesn't always correspond to what another player sees or what the server running the game decides has happened. As for invulnerability hacks - afaik they are not possible in 2142.

True, all of that is server side and can not be changed by the individual. This goes for vehicles, and soldier's as well.

i think if you can hack the server you can get invincibility hacks, but those hacks can change any thing they want, the way they want, and that will be likely noticed. think of always 1hk, more points for the hacker per kill and what not.

And Tank question answered... effectively by the posts of experiences of other people who have played as much if not more than you. It happens. It happens in bf2, and happens in this game too. Is just netcode, hitreg, hit detection, lag, whatever you want to call it. If it's taken you this long to experience it, you should count yourself very lucky (see the pun, see it, BAHAHAHAHAHA).

awwww no wonder he doesnt show up on the leaderboard....he uses an I instead of the proper L..lower case.....figures.I'm not discounting his skill...but I sure will stand by what I said earler.......the gunship was almost at a standstill..almost in a hover mode when I nailed it dead center....explain that to me?..no one has yet.

Um, yes they have over and over. Bad hit reg, lag, packet loss etc... It has happened to lots of people and not just with vehicles. Haven't you ever unloaded a full clip into someone 5m in front of you and done no damage?

Your computer thinks you got a hit. The server overrules your computer's claim and lets the gunship remain alive. That's it, that's all.

And take in mind that spells of displacement like these can last well over several seconds when the conditions are laggy enough.
