      Re: Gunship hack???

I'll use my super duper Kirk summoning abilities.

Anyway, here's why it's technically and completely impossible to health hack in a Battlefield game without deranking the server:
      1. No health hacks exist on the client side, period. You never, never trust the client with that type of information as it's easily spoofed. While the game does maintain some information about the current health, were the player to alter that information, the server would simply correct the client on the next update and/or report a kill to the cheater and the other client, rendering the modification useless.
      2. Were a player to modify files on the client side that dealt with vehicle health, hitboxes, or weapon damage, that player would not be permitted to join a ranked server (or a server running PB or the pure option) as their files would fail the MD5 check. If that player somehow managed to circumvent all of that, the server would still relay valid information to the other clients and kill that player, so you would see a valid kill.
      3. EA requires ranked server purity checks by the GSP. You can't modify that stuff like that, period. You just can't. I don't know the specifics of how that exactly works, and I doubt anyone will tell you; just trust in the fact that it works as it should. The minute anything on the server is modified, you lose ranked status and you're effectively playing a mod.

A'ight, there's your detailed explanations of how all that stuff works.

Next: How network prediction failed you:
      1. In order to conserve bandwidth, the server and clients send as little information as possible. You do not receive an update from the server every frame; as a generous estimate, I'd put the number of updates as one every 4-6 frames, possibly one every 10 frames. If you've ever seen people "warping" around the screen, you're seeing the server radically updating someone's position because it has failed to get good information (typically, the server will just use its position data and reset the player there in order to avoid something called "tapping").
      2. Bandwidth limitations prevent updates from happening any more often than those above; therefore, the client must take inputs from the user (typically raw control inputs) and mirror them to the server which then computes what should happen and then updates the clients as appropriate. In the interim 3-5 frames where the client has no updates from the server, the client must interpolate
the approximate next position of any moving object on the battlefield. Sometimes, however, that interpolation is wrong because the user on the other end of the internet decided to do something completely different. While the server knows what's actually going on, the other clients may not (depending on if they've been updated).
      3. If something like that happens, it's too bandwidth intensive to update every client at the same time, so the server sticks to its update schedule, which causes you to see some stuff which may not necessarily be what is going on. That's usually caused by some packets getting lost somewhere in the internet or being latent in arriving.

      And there you have that.

if you have a real good hack it would be possible that reason number 3 isnt true. if you would hack the server in such a way it thinks it aint hacked(possible but hard) you COULD be able to change those things, it requires memorie changing, hacking, injecting, or a whole reprogram of battlefield server files. but i think no hack publicly avaivable has those abilities.

Right, but you'd need access to the server files; that'd require something which could either root the server box (good luck getting a hack with that ability; you'll put yourself on the FBI's wanted list pretty damn fast) or get a GSP server admin to give you a password to mess with ranked server files.

So yeah, that is possible but so difficult it's just extremely improbable.

Of course, that's in the case of someone going for the hacker's holy grail of an actual heath hack.

What remains as a candidate to explain "exotic" behaviour from vehicles is, as I hinted earlier, a gamehack which uses a vehicle's strengths and weaknesses to their absolute limit, way beyond what a human would normally be able to achieve.

Hence why a particular gamehack formerly gave someone the ability to appear to crash into an APC in a gunship, destroy the APC, and survive.

I think this has become one of the most amusing threads I've seen in a while.

I'm still waiting for Snakeyezzz reply though. Thanks everyone who's assisted in this matter
