I only see one really stupid post. Most people seem to agree that even if Apple bought EA, it wouldn't make sense for them to convert to publishing only Mac games. Apple really should consider getting some kind of in-house studio to develop good games for their platform. As it is, that is one of the most compelling reasons NOT to get a Mac. They get games later and worse than everyone else. If someone could come up with an awesome game, made only for the Mac, you might see a few more people buying them and it would also make some of those sad Mac owners happy to have a bone thrown at them for once.

Yeah, the "If App13 6uy 3@, I'11 n3v0r BuY An07h3r gAm3" and "If Battlefield goes Apple exclusive..."are just retarded. I mean, it only takes a second to work out that in no plausible way would such a move ever prove profitable... So really, I think people need to use their heads!

My Staff Seargent has a macbook and my Section Commander and 2IC had their iPods out on FIBUA training last weekend :p
u guys have nothing to worry about. native game development on macs has been non-existent ever since intel macs came out. most ppl with macs will use bootcamp to boot windows and play their games there.

Support services (i.e. MWR, graphics personnel in all capacities) on many installations use Macs. Those pretty flyers you see for activities at the clubs, gyms, etc. are commonly made on a Mac.

I've never seen the MWR or PAO people use anything other than the Dell computers they were issued from the supply system for official work. In ten years, I've yet to see a Mac used for official business. Now that I've left active duty and joined the National Guard recently, I've worked with the 1 Stop Shop (Automations and PC maintenance) a lot in my full time position. They have nothing but Windows and Sun Solaris and a few lonely boxes with DOS. They don't even have a support system in place for Apple products for that possible rare case of a unit making a local purchase. I suppose it's possible for a unit to purchase one with their IMPAC card, but I've never seen it.

I've been working in an IT department in government for 5 years, I've never come across anyone who's used a mac, even developers or designers who do public display visuals or newspapers/newsletters. There are the occasional self-righteous douche-bag journalism interns who will bring in their extremely over-priced Mac laptops and brag to everyone how great it is and how much they paid for it. Aside from the fact that Mac is good at holding the hands of people who are extremely limited in computer applications, I don't see any practical use for them in a professional environment, especially if there's no kind of IT support for Macs/Apple products. Hell, I've seen more people using various Linux distributions than I have Macs.

As for Apple buying EA and making EA games exclusive to Apple products. I don't see how it's not possible that Apple buys EA, EA has shown that the only thing that concerns them is the bottom line (quarterly balance sheets), so we shouldn't be surprised to see them sell out to someone like Apple when the price is right.
As for EA games being exclusive to Mac. That's something I cannot see. I don't know how EA would allow itself to be limited to an extremely small market (because of course everyone owns a Mac, and Apple has a massive market share on home computers and video game consoles /sarcasm). So assuming that Apple would need to create a console, there's almost 100% risk 0% reward for EA to commit to an exclusive partnership with Apple. Could EA agree to make certain games exclusive to Apple? Sure, why not, maybe Apple will get into gaming, but to suggest that Madden 2012 will solely be on Apple products seems like a bit of a stretch and a naive statement.
However, I'm prepared to eat my words if it does happen. Perhaps EA exclusively being on Apple products isn't an entirely bad thing. It will open things wide for innovation and new developers who care more about their customer base than they care about their customer base's money. Maybe we'll start seeing real innovation, if this is the case, EA will have signed it's own death warrant, and Apple's gaming venture will go down in a flaming fury of fizzle.
I never said they were in large use, but I have seen them in use at various DoD installations, primarily with MWR (Services) marketing offices. I've been to around 80 installations large and small, and have seen a Mac in at least 10 of them. And yes, they were connected to the installation network. From my understanding they are on the approved list (forget exactly what its called, I'm an Engineer, not IT) but not commonly purchased due to IT support issues.

As far as the original subject matter goes, I'm all for it. EA is losing money, which in turn heavily affects development. It's not just BF/PCs either, the flagship Madden franchise has been horrible (gameplay wise) the last several years. Little innovation has been implemented. If not for the "zombie hordes" of dedicated Madden players that just have to have the latest release (despite it being no more than player updates and new rookies), sales would decrease dramatically. Apple has money. Now whether they would plan to use it to regenerate interest in the BF series is another topic of discussion. TBH, it can't get much worse as I have little faith in another revamp of BF from EA.
I wouldn't be too concerned of a BF Mac only release. Apple's support of their computer hardware the past several years has been laughable at best.

Military Technician. I wear my uniform and rank but get paid as a civilian. Then I get paid for AT and IDT weekends, on top of my normal pay. And I have set hours, unlike the AGR and ADOS guys. Only downsides are: tech time doesn't count for retirement and no Tricare. So I have to pay out of pocket for health care...
