Thing is, if they're relying on a constant revenue stream, the publisher and developer will be more motivated to fix something (such as the J-10 imbalance) lest they lose their monthly fee from people tired of dealing with it, whereas with a game like BF2 they aren't really obligated, or even necessarily motivated, to fix anything on it because once you bought the game they have your money and won't get any more out of you unless you're a server owner.

And how does PR run on low-end hardware compared to EF?

I enjoy the boosters when I can play them; would have been nice to get more than 3 maps each though. I'm more interested in new maps (and the EU handheld weapons) than new vehicles.

This is why Valve is the best developer.

lol, much harder due to things like our view distances etc, but if you simply replaced our CR2 with the BF2EF one, there would be no performance difference.

The main thing is about the BF2EF CR2, is it looks NOTHING like a CR2, it looks more like some really crappy WW2 tank. They got the shape, proportions and sizes soo wrong that it would be really hard for anyone to tell that it was a CR2 with out the name tag... At least the BF2 M1A2 etc looks something like a M1A2 and not like a plastic toy that came out of the bottom of a cereal box.

They've already got your money. Why should they care if you play the game for 5 hours or 5 years? They already have the money. And with the shift to consoles, they can put out whatever "budget" titles they want, at full price, and people will still buy the hell out of them.
                "Ohh, look. Shiny. Must buy."
They spend as much on marketing as development, these days.
It's easier to get more people to buy an inferior product than it is to make a superior product in the first place.

Yeah, but when I buy the bonus packs I expected them to work, not a ****head at EA studio's giving me the work around on why it is somehow my fault my new packaged game from best buy already had a used CD-KEY.

Oh, mine's worked and always has. Don't know what your problem is, but it's besides the point.

I bought the complete collection for BF2 so I could get Euro-Forces and Armored Fury. As well as getting a CD-KEY for my girlfriend to play on since we lost her copy of BF2 after a reformat. Anyway, somehow my BF2 EF/AF key is already in use after buying it. And EA refused to do anything about the dumb script kiddie who made his little ****** and stole my CD-KEY.

monthly fee is great DRM and stops most piracy, anything where people have to log on to play is great DRM, like steam
Besides hacking an account there is really no way to pirate the game, but still I have alot of stingy friends who would not touch the game. I hope they will make some kind of an exception for a LAN game or like they have it with WOW and most other MMO where you can create your own server.

My friend had that issue when he got BF2. He emailed EA and they gave him a new key and said sorry :p

That's unlucky, but it doesn't mean the expansion packs are bad value.
